Just got this book, and i'm loving it.

I live in Austin, please don't do this. Not to mention our sidewalks aren't nearly as dirty as say LA, and it won't look as nice. A few years ago whrrrl put down a bunch of chalk on the sidewalks and never cleaned it up, it's still there and now it's just embarrassing. Graffiti is graffiti. Etching your name into dirt is still etching your name into something.

interesting idea, though in keeping away from feature bloat, wouldn't it be much much easier, and just as effective to put that information in the read me?

I realize the you said they don't want to but the info there, but why? If you really wanted to abandon the project why not just close the repo, which would shift all your traffic to another fork?

If github implemented this feature, I wouldn't be upset, but it seems very single purpose. Maybe a status flag, so the author can not just say "abandoned", but "up to date", or "active" though again, all of that can be seen through the commit history.

A question to ask yourself. If you were a "scheduling, project management, and facility management person or working for a recording, film, or production studio" where would your eyeballs be?

Are there magazines that would be interested in featuring your product, rather than just putting an ad in it? Who are the movers and shakers that all of your potential clients look towards for advice? Can you get an interview with one of them, post the interview on your websites' blog. Looks like your product targets music studios...so go out and talk to them, ask what they're currently using, and see how you would be capable of solving their problems...use this opportunity to gain users and possibly evangelists.

So, my take aways from this interview: He doesn't know how he got the attention of the press. He doesn't know why exactly his product succeeded. He has no tips on any secrets of what got Wikipedia going.

The one thing i got out of this interview: Reporters will not understand you and will not understand your product.

Interview is informative if you're interested in wikipedia history, such as how it got started. I like the idea of the series though, Gaining "Traction" can be a black art, would be interested in more material.

This is an awesome display of the info we freely give out. If this app was fully functional it would also list the nearest pawn shop and crack dealer.
