Maryland is a pretty rich state, spoiled by military and government connections. It is a poor choice to use as a baseline for the entire nation when plenty of rural areas are still barely scaping by economically and in terms of access to the Internet. Raising the baseline ability of our communications networks is anything but a terrible economic investment, the fact that you cite Netflix shows your focus is only on the short term. I challenge you to look beyond your short sightedness, once people have had their fill with the benefits to media consumption afforded by higher bandwidth connections, and into the future where such connections will be necessary as our infrastructure and information expand in the decades to come

You're right we download high quality mp3 and videos, because as much as people prop up Netflix and Spotify they fall far short of having a quality library to browse, Spotify less so. Netflix tends to replace what quality shows with more and more junk each update

Because when tech companies come to places in the us they become gentrified and everything becomes expensive. In most cases tech companies coming to an area has a devastating effect as people who had lived in an area forever are forced out due to the insane spike in cost of living.

The issue isn't complicated at all. Regardless of any country's laws. Don't use my personal information for anything other than verifying my identity or record keeping. Don't give it to anyone, don't sell it to anyone, don't use it for marketing bullshit, dont analyze it to find out how to sell me things, or how to trap me in targetted advertising (which I block anyway because you have no right to spam me with them or waste my bandwidth) or filter bubbles. If you can't do that when fuck off, there's no reason I should do business with you.
