If you use emacs org-mode, check out org-drill http://orgmode.org/worg/org-contrib/org-drill.html. It uses the same algorithms, allows you to tweak everything, and you can keep your flashcards alongside the relevant notes/code/files/issues/ToDos/bookmarks/contacts/feeds/calendar-entry/emails/thesis/spreadsheets/journals/diagrams/pictures/evernotes/etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-dUkyn_fZA, rather than in a totally separate program.

It's ludicrous for this to be anything other than hilarious.

Causes: kids are bored, kids are allowed to use cell phones in class (what?), they've never actually had to take anything seriously, and adults will always validate their shenanigans by acknowledging it, so: they search for drama, can get it from social media, "take it seriously" just feeding the drama, and they get their money shot of the principal and lawyers getting involved.

It's child pornography and the only sick part is the adults who are getting off to it, but apparently that doesn't matter either so I'm just sitting here hoping someone doxxes a pair of plots out of whoever this "M." chick is.

If your marginal freetime is worth less than driving for Lyft, then it probably was before Lyft.

Either own the code and machines that these services run on, or prepare for either A) Basic income, leading towards crime and social isolation and the end of civilization for your class, or B) Slavery (WPA style), in order to prevent A. If you use your power of selective history the right way, you'll get B and enjoy it.

I, as someone of non-genius IQ, will use my still-existent income to enjoy the metaverse and avoid major cities.

I hate to be that guy, but nothing you have under IDM is actually IDM. It's decent glitchhop/dubstep, but I don't know how/why you created that sub-category to shoehorn IDM in there somewhere.

it is your choice

It's my choice to remain a student, and to do well. It's my choice to do community service, etc. etc... what's your point?

There are few things, if any, as existentially important as creating the next generation.

Given a moral framework, the third statement is an empirical statement. Given a traditional Christian moral framework, as an example, the third statement is true. If you believe that a traditional Christian moral framework is necessary for Western civilization to continue, then that justifies the first two statements. For the United States, then, the major task is to argue that a traditional Christian moral framework isn't necessary for Western civilization to survive.

Right. It needs a Democracy mode. maybe even a Democracy/Anarchy slider controlled by Q and E.

There's a surprisingly active community at /r/ithkuil with people doing translations.

The loper os thing is currently two guys playing with fpgas, but the one knows his lisp and knows what he wants and has supposedly written most of the OS code already, so I'm hopeful. I'm not sure if anything other than a networked lisp machine would work for the kind of verifiably-not-backdoored software/hardware that everyone wants. Aside from the obvious smell of a lisp hacker trying to do his own full stack, I'm surprised that it hasn't gotten more attention.

Thanks! That answers my original question.

Now for the flamewar: Is there anything that a non-emacs/vim IDE or editor can do that both emacs and vim cannot? Aside from social inertia (e.g. your colleagues use it, it's your first and only power editor), I have a hard time understanding why anyone would use anything else.

My hunch is that it's primarily a marketing problem, especially for emacs.

There are no net downsides to placing a very high priority on becoming more "manly and muscled". I don't think any guy anywhere has ever regretted doing that. To me, it seems like a very obvious and neutral thing to evangelize.

1. I don't do it enough myself, so I'm projecting my anger/disappointment. 2. In the past months I've come to notice that I respect built men so much more than average guys, and how many social ills could be solved if every guy just lifted heavy weights a few times a week.
