It's all fun until you want to sell the machine and the stickers discolored the case. Some stickers adhesive seem to react with the coating on MacBooks and permanently discolor them.

Just be aware of that :)

Slack is doing questinonable things anyways. When we migrated away from it to Teams, I wanted to export the workspace to be able to look stuff up in case we need it. We are a very small company and had the smallest plan, no chance, export only with the expensive plan.

Since I'm located in europe, I thought of just doing a data request based on GDPR (at least for my messages). They declined it and referred me to my organization, since we are in charge of fulfilling such requests (how would we even do that if there's no functionality for it?). Absolutely ridiculous.

In Chrome you can click on the icon next to the address and then on security, it will show the name of the company the cert is issued to. Quite hidden though.

I am so happy to learn that I'm not the only one experiencing these issues! For me it was so bad at some times that the MacBook woke up in my backpack and somehow did some really CPU intense tasks, leading to the fan going full speed. When taking it out it was almost too hot to touch, I was scared at times that it would break or set the bag on fire.

Starting a new stack is nothing compared to maintaining it. Upgrading to newer images requires carefully checking which environment variables suddenly appeared in new versions or maybe were renamed. Upgrades never really went absolutely smooth for me in the past.

When you use their SaaS offering, it's a good product. Self hosted is a different story. Massive stack that reinvents the wheel for every component, lack of documentation, breaking changes between versions all the time (although this has gotten better lately).

It feels like it's Open Source mainly for the sake of good PR, not to be actually useful.

The name is ironic, as there is a german TV show called Fernsehgarten (basically television garden). It's broadcasted live every sunday morning during summer season on ZDF, basically it's a outdoor studio with music and other things around a topic every week.

Tailscale is super awesome, I was amazed when I first set it up that it just worked out of the box. It can be set up by everyone without having to expose ports on the router (something that is often not even possible anymore due to CGNAT), so you get a lot of convenience without giving up security

For me, the connection always fails the first time and after retrying it works.

Is that site still actively maintained? Footer says 2005-2023.
