Are literal placeholders. They haven't filled in the minimum information to make these useful:

I am _very_ cautious around launches where they haven't got these basics correct. It's one of the first places I go to see if I should trust a new organisation or not.

You're right, and thanks for the note - gave me a chance to reflect. I think what I mean is more along the lines that while a right to reply would have been polite, it isn't required of a blogger, and wouldn't change the substance of the post much, which is largely about a pattern of behaviour rather than specifics. Michael's attempts to dismiss/discredit the post based on a process which generally only applies to the press is what sits badly with me.

This expectation that someone should approach you for comment (and the suggestion that the fact they haven’t matters for neutrality) is misguided.

These accusations could all have been avoided by not moderating a community in which you stand to have a direct reputational gain.

This is in such a thick academic style that it is difficult to follow what the problem actually might be and how it would impact someone. This style of writing serves mostly to remind me that I am not a part of the world that writes like this, which makes me a little sad.

This is only part of your post, but VueScan is very good for older scanners on newer OSes. It’s paid software but I like it, avoids the landfill.

Nothing wrong with an older scanner after all - the tech was already impressive 10 years ago!

I’m not overly surprised that in a startup, there was no mechanism built to split off a small defined portion of their fleet to a different, independent cloud.

Bit different to changing the whole infrastructure out for every car in a disaster recovery situation.
