the term "astronaut" is not tied to universal characteristics such as having been to earth's orbit. instead, the term was introduced by NASA and is explicitly reserved for crew members of NASA space programs who have been to orbit or beyond. therefore there are also no soviet astronauts

I'm approaching ~100 days of running. after ~2 weeks it quickly became a habit, so much so that during the two days I could not run (vaccine), I felt a constant itch to do so.

started with 4k everyday at a 7min pace, now it's down to 5:30 and I do 8k everyday and 10-15k on weekends. Usually I do this in between coding sessions and use my run to listen to some podcast and/or think about a current issue. never been more productive while also feeling much more healthy.

Seems like you missed the point entirely.

Who determines what "dangerous medical misinformation" is?

As shown, today's "debunked conspiracy theory" can be deemed credible next year.

big tech colluding with gov entities to punish dissenting views seems like a very bad idea.

Telegram, arguably the world’s most dangerous messenger service.

yet again, unfettered conversations, very frighting for traditional media outlets.

It's rather telling that spiegel chose this particular topic for its international section just days after the german Bundestag approved further public surveillance measures. With this new law federal police and all 19 intelligence services in Germany will be allowed to hack into suspects' computers and smartphones. And also the Snowden revelations just had their anniversary today. spiegel: crickets

Doesn't that put a label on temporarily homeless people, like people with experience in homelessness, which they can't get rid off. Being homeless ends the second you're not homeless anymore.

the term "unhoused" suffers from the same thing, it's just not precise.

I disagree with these kinds of reframing attempts for a couple of reasons but most of all i dislike this trend of constantly convoluting everything with "identity". Being homeless describes the state a person is in, not who they are, even though some people chose to be homeless.

Are the journos finally feeling the heat themselves?

journos are one of the worst offenders in this toxic climate.

Weaponizing tweets only loses its power in only two ways, either by every reasonable person and institution realizing that this is stupid, or by mutual assured destruction.

Unfortunately I think we're well past the point of no return, so I'm looking forward to the latter. So let the cancelations continue until moral improves.

The subheading of the article is the only time "fossil fuel" is mentioned, not a single mention after that

Artists are harnessing NFTs to sell their work but ignoring the vast amount of fossil fuels needed to power them.

this article is FUD

[...] while the rest of us are saddled with an environmental impact nobody can afford to bear. One can’t help but wonder if the proud new owner of Western Flag will think it was all worth it on some day, not so very far from now, when the coastal cities have drowned, the brackish water that comes from the tap needs to be boiled before it is safe to drink and climate refugees huddle in tent cities stretching to the horizon.
