I’m not sure what this comment brings to the table either, I mean are you really saying their opinion is invalid because they’re new / haven’t “put enough time in”? That doesn’t seem very fair.

I don’t think newcomers should be excluded from conversations…what’s the requirement; 12, 24, 48 months? Who determines that? Account age isn’t the best indicator of good-faith participation (accounts can be hacked, bought, etc.).

Instead engage with the content itself and where it comes from to determine if it seems to be in “good-faith”. Ironically, writing off someone’s opinion based on a single (potentially unrelated) fact is probably “bad-faith”.

It’s okay to recognize that something serves a great purpose in a controlled, therapeutic setting but may lead to unpredictable results in an uncontrolled environment. People without experience should absolutely be cautious.

I would love that…I’ve heard of this use case for AI described many times but I’ve yet to find anyone doing it! Copilot is great, but for more creative/frontend work it seems like there should be something right?

Stable Diffusion is amazing at generating art. Something similar but specialized in UI could be too. Maybe one could make a custom model, but with my lack of design knowledge I’m not even sure where to start…

Yes the quality has greatly increased since that headset ~20 years ago, and not only the screen. There is also game quality, software quality, features, “connectivity” (online gaming, social hubs). Overall the experience today is entirely different.

Have you tried one? Nowadays they certainly are. Sure, you may encounter mobile-class graphics in some games, however these headsets can also leverage a gaming PC to stream higher quality titles as well.

Not to mention immersion. The PS2 simply cannot offer an immersive experience even close to what a VR headset can these days, not for most of today’s youth anyways. This is especially true when you factor in online gaming and other social aspects.

To suggest otherwise requires some strong nostalgia glasses I think.

Very unfortunate that Namecheap isn’t cooperating. Not really sure what the hold up is, some say it’s related to the Namecheap vs. Tucows lawsuit [0], but realistically it wouldn’t make much sense to do something like this out of spite. I wonder if they’re worried about potential legal obligations of turning over such a “controversial” domain?

I don’t either but I think the blame is often misplaced, most of them literally don’t know any better. They go to an ad network’s website, check a box agreeing to the deal, and receive a prompt to read on air.

Now of course they should be doing their own due diligence, but this is the state of podcast advertising right now (and has been for a while, see: BetterHelp controversy)

The project has been in the works for years now founded by BitTorrent author Bram Cohen, it would be a bit naive to believe a pump and dump from hacker news is what they're after.

I think the difference in energy consumption between storage devices and GPU miners is being significantly downplayed here. While a good bit of energy has to be consumed to generate the plots, the benefit is that once completed the storage devices may sit idle in a much more energy efficient farming machine (and for quite literally forever).

As of right now the network is only a very small percentage of the global storage market, so it is hard to imagine any impact on chip supply chains, but of course there is no telling what stress could be brought in the future as the network grows, we will have to see.

However in a time when energy usage and carbon footprint are being used as direct attacks to "cancel" cryptocurrency (which are legitimate concerns, not only just about "cancelling" crypto), I can't help but wonder if Chia is in the place to completely change the game with adoption of proof of space.

I can't say that I could agree Firefox's privacy options are hidden/behind menus. I downloaded a fresh copy of Firefox today and the privacy features were quite encouraged and are even the main focus of the Security / Privacy tab.

Brave is an excellent browser but it is only a matter of time until the remaining features are brought over to Firefox. Not to mention some feel they aren't "out of the grasp" of Google until they're fully away from Chromium.

I finally made the switch from Brave today and I'm never going back. Firefox is just as privacy-conscious, supports built-in tracker blocking, fingerprinting, and has full sync that Brave hasn't implemented yet.
