i'm not sure i would call this a "big government initiative." this is pretty cheap, obvious stuff.

you might pull an off-the-shelf component library for a demo app or even a startup, but the value of building in-house/from-scratch in government, especially military, cannot be understated. the web ui ecosystem is rife with security risks and accessibility footguns.

it looks fine to me. it's a design system, not rocket science.

i only skimmed the home page, but it seems far too opinionated for general use. if you're starting fresh and plan to use tremor as your all-encompassing ui kit, it seems fine. but at that point, why not grafana, retool, or some other no-to-low-code dashboard solution?

the fact that the latest 100 gecs album has a spatial master was a big tell for me. spatial is definitely going to stick

even just their boiler room set in spatial sounded more realistic than any other live thing i've ever listened to. hearing the crowd around you is surreal

Is military capable AI in the hands of few militaries safer than in the hands of many?

Yes. It is. I'm sure hostile, authoritarian states that are willing to wage war with the world like Russia and North Korea will eventually get their hands on military-grade AI. But the free world should always strive to be two steps ahead.

Even having ubiquitous semi-automatic rifles is a huge problem in America. I'm sure Cliven Bundy or Patriot Front would do everything they can to close the gap with intelligent/autonomous weapons, or even just autonomous bots hacking America's infrastructure. If everything is freely available, what would be stopping them?

i see it going two ways: 1. they do skeumorphic design in a way where comes out as a giant touchscreen with a bunch of static buttons like you see with physical interfaces on a car 2. very deep menus. e.g., a dozen taps to switch from radio to bluetooth

in either case, it'll have a 15hz frame rate and 800ms of lag between input and response. i expect nothing better.

meanwhile, if we had a full-on apple car, it would probably have a 120hz truemotion display, well-calibrated spatial audio, and a fully-utilized M2 Max chip

i was bearish on the idea of an apple car years ago, but now with tesla withering, i'm practically begging for it

what if you use the report button to do the same, and succeed? have you influenced the election? perhaps marginally. your tweets do the same.

what does a particular politician have to do with this? the "leak" literally said both the trump white house and the biden campaign lobbied to have posts removed

i think it's kind of funny that the government is lobbying corporation now, rather than the other way around.

i also have a direct line to twitter to get posts removed. it's called the report button. i wouldn't be surprised if many individual twitter superusers have removed more content than the white house

i don't really worry about it myself much. i just err on the side of not installing things i'm unsure about

but my boomer mother? whewwwwwwwwww if someone told her she had to install a 3rd party app store to see pictures of her friend's birthday cake or some terrible grape salad recipe, she'd do it. and she'd give them all of her personal info too.

sadly this is the norm, not the exception

or winforms and C#!

tbf, building a ui with an absolutely-positioned, pixel-bound presentation engine was AWFUL without a designer. anyone work with Win32 APIs back in the day? 60 lines of code just to open a window without even drawing anything on it!

building a ui in code is a lot easier with flow layout and a good component library

- [x] Best of both worlds

It's wonderful. I only wish my Mac Mini had a 120hz display attached.
