You dont even have to look abroad, the USA kills its own citizens all the time. Police brutality is a huge issue here, we had some large protests here and the country ended those with the realization that nothing can be done about it. Kids get shot in school all the time in the US and once again, nothing gets done about it ever. The USA has a gigantic prison population and you guessed it: nothing gets done about it.

Its a big bank, Im not working on anyones debit account. Me and everyone Ive ever seen here is working on internal tools, nothings going to wipe out anyones savings. Also, yeah, its a bank, I hit the "im going to blow a gasket" line so long okay I cant even remember what things are supposed to be like.

do you think the other big banks arent doing this? Bank jobs are pretty broad, theres a ton of code getting written here.

Major, big big major, not just me either. How is it alarming beyond words? If I said "Im an emt and I just ask the AI everything" now that would be alarming beyond words.

I work for a bank and Im basically just an ai user now. Honestly its like pulling teeth to get anyone to look at your code here. Im just on hackernews lol

sure, a bunch of people will lose jobs, but at that trade off everyones dog can vibe code Royal Frog, a 4 level unwinnable game where play as king frog, eating peasant flies.

sorry, no jobs at the staffing agency, those are AI. Feel free to walk into a burger king, show up everyday, and flip those fries for minimum wage until you die. Man up brother, other people make it work. Sleeping on the street, well half the year its not even snowing.

its insane that there wasnt any consequence for the metaverse at all. Oh yeah, we built a second life clone based totally around the idea that people want to spend rent money on fake digital real estate. Of course it tanked, no one was brave enough to point out ahead of time how bad an idea it was? And this doesnt hurt their standing, stock price, or marketability at all?

another 'anyone but Java' developer! For me its not even the language or syntax, its the way people code it. Not every line of python ive ever read is gold, but every time i delve into Java code its like the developer was mad, at me specifically.

I feel like ive been stuck in that cycle, and I know its partially just me being in my head about my career, but I really have been basically doing CRUD apps for a decade. Ive made a lot of front end forms, Ive kept up on the latest frameworks and trends, but at the core it really hasnt been dramatically different.
