The good old "privacy is already dead" argument doesnt make sense to me.

If privacy is dead, why do organizations keep secrets from their staff? Why doesnt the public have full insight into everything the government and the military does? Why are there secrets?

Diablo 3 is a lot better than I expected. Its a lot of fun bashing mobs in co-op mode with your friends. While its the same maps on all difficulty levels, there are random mobs and encounters quite often, and it never gets old finding nice items to sell on AH.

The only problem is that inferno is too difficult at the moment. Patch 1.03 will adjust the monster damage by about 25%. Right now, you cant kill elites with a melee character. In fact, you die to normal mobs very often because of their huge damage output. So people stay on Hell and play that content instead, which is not really intended. Inferno is supposed to be hard but doable, not impossible. Right now only ranged characters with the best gear can play that difficulty level.

Overall, I love the game and will play it for many more weeks or even months. I will never use the real money AH though. :)

Googles most successful products such as Gmail and the search engine was created as small, experimental products, born from the brains of people who were NOT under strict deadlines and pressure to perform. The brain works much better under those conditions, and so does creativity and thinking outside the box.

Today we see the influence of managers and bosses in the way Google ignores privacy. That was probably never part of the vision the product creators had when they put their products together.

Because despite all human hubris, we are pretty much in the dark ages. When we have learned how to sustain ourselves without raping the planet, then maybe we can at least be called civilized. Although still a very primitive species.

Humans dont like viewing themselves as primitive and limited, but we very much are. We are unaware of the alien species constantly being around us, we think 90% of the DNA is "junk" because we dont understand what it does, we call space "empty" because we dont see whats there, etc.

Programmers write code, musicians create music. Code is usually different from whats out there, music is usually not.

You have music pouring out of every speaker on earth. Its kind of hard to ask for money for that. Its like selling sand in Sahara.

I can honestly tell you that if all the record companies would die over night, I wouldnt even care one bit. The artists would find other ways to get together and put out their music, and without getting screwed.

This happens at my job too and I want to kill myself when it does. I get so frustrated. All these work protocols and slow useless software that prevents me from being effective at work.

I usually find a way to make things work by going outside the protocols and just fixing the problems. Its not the problem that is hard, its the stupid damn protocols and official ways of doing things that makes it very hard to get something done.

Decisions being made by idiots who have no clue how to allow people to work in a efficient manner, or how much money they lose by people sitting around doing nothing, waiting for some useless step in a useless process.

Im surprised nobody is discussing the reason for the pull. Obviously the FBI has copied all the data on the server and are now using a backdoor in the encryption or brute force cracking to get into the information.

There is no such thing as safe data once the physical server is confiscated, and people shouldnt trust standard encryption algorithms to be safe from backdoors.

Microsoft Windows has had backdoors for a long time I reckon. Some of it are called "bugs" once its discoved and fixed with Windows Updates. Other stuff gets introduced that way as well.

Or they could have port knocking techniques built into the closed source kernel to allow people who know the code to enter the computer without any trace.

Python has a tendency to create non-complex programs in my experience. Today I rewrote a shell script with Python and now its much, much more elegant and easy to understand.

I guess what Im saying is that the programmer need some help from the language to make the software non-complex. Even trivial things often becomes complex in low level languages.
