Ugh, such a good read as we enter an era where we kind of have to build interactions from first principals or else we'll be stuck with a clunky search bar and lackluster AI adoption.
Perhaps Nielsen's practices will enjoy a resurgence as it's easier to make personal sites for all sorts of different, non-commercial entities and happenings.
We run a search and chat company and felt particularly compelled to send a demo to a customer using a competitor's API. The search was so poor and slow, we saw it as an easy lay up.
Our mistake was posting it all over X and LinkedIn. We got hit with a cease and desist so fast.
Marked as wrong timing in the CRM and moved on!

Cease and desist letters can be scary. In my opinion, (which is not a legal one) theirs was pretty chill and straightforward.

Totally. This isn’t just an AI issue, it’s a reflection of a larger shift where speed and cost-efficiency matter more than accuracy or intent. AI just amplifies the effects. When every step of the process is driven by “good enough,” you end up with work that no one really stands behind beyond a seed round.
There's few countries that love Goku as much as Mexico in my experience. Just Mexicans in general maybe. He's on Mickey Mouse levels of famous. There's quite a few TACOS AL VAPOR "GOKU".
My dad composed music for major network TV shoes in the 90s. The immediate abuses of post-consolidation owners impact his royalties (or really, lack thereof) to this day. I really feel for music industry folk that came up through this. Now, they're in an era of micromarkets and small windows where they can finally make some money post-CD sales but so few of them have the knowhow to succeed in that environment.
On the other hand, check out this guy Matt Farley. He has made and published 24,000 songs. He has written a song about every city, name, thing a kid thinks is funny, every name pooping, and so on.
