Anyone serious about making music on iOS already has an external audio interface. Not to say dropping the port is well timed, but it's not a major issue for most pro iOS musicians.

The fear of clones diminishing the value of Ethereum seems odd to me, considering we have many alt coins that are derived from BTC but none have come close to supplanting BTC. Once the technology is openly available it might be easy to spool up a clone, but then marketing and gaining mindshare are needed and they are much more difficult.

Yea this is really good advise! I've struggled with weight all my life and setting an extreme goal like that is an easy trap to fall into. When you have a big goal and don't make it, you keep yourself from feeling good about the slow but positive progress. I often feel bad about this and just fall back into old habits again and end up where I started or worse. Slow and steady definitely wins the race.

It sounds like you are expecting the ETF would be creating more shares frequently which it does not. That would have to happen as a secondary offering and it would dilute the value of all the other shares in circulation, Assuming they are the same class share.

This would give a whole new level of meaning to Google's favorite product subheading... "Beta"

It is funny to read an article saying the iPad will be about X, when there are so many X's out there. The iPad represents the refinement of a platform (tablets) that has a shot at transcending the models of computing we have had so far. Just look at where the iPhone is at as a platform now with 3 revisions under it's glassy screen. The iPad a few generations down the road (30 inch, Multitasking) will change the computing landscape.

In the 1990's (Thanks Jeron) we were all expecting VR to be the next step away from the 2D windowed computing environment. For some reason that didn't take off. At the same time there was a lot of academic hype around the idea of ubiquitous computing. I think the iPhone/iPod Touch was the first tentative step into this direction, but without the real estate for effective daily work. I think the iPad will solve a lot of these issues and therefor go way beyond anyone's expectations.

So, I'm a little confused about the root issue here. Can anyone explain what's so special about Google Voice compared to Skype? It seems that Apple has approved an app with a similar functionality in Skype for the iPhone. Is there something extra special about Google Voice that I'm not seeing? If the two apps are functionally identical maybe Apple is hung up on some aspect of the implementation. The whole "Apple believed the application duplicated the core dialer functionality of the iPhone” sounds like it could be more of a technical issue vs a functionality / religion issue. (Religion being Thou shall not make phone calls without glorious At&T)

I think it's driven more by their respective business models. Google is more focused on incubating fresh ideas and growing those ideas into the next established market where as Microsoft tends to reiterate on accepted ideas, Market the @%#* out of it, and our favorite (step 3) profit.

Why is it that the big money is there to eek out a Nth of a percent but not available for fresh big ideas? I'm not at all disagreeing with you, I just think that's an interesting point. I wish the world were the other way around it might be a better place (or maybe there'd just be less "big money" for having tried). Maybe if MS let smaller groups run wild more often they'd see more of these elusive "innovative ideas".

I'll add my vote for Things! I was designing my own app to do this then Things came out. If you've ever been inspired by GTD - Getting Things Done, by David Allen, Things is an indispensable app, My third most used app next to Mail and Safari. It also has great support for syncing with the iPhone so you can take your lists on the road and store your tasks or ideas wherever you are.

Wow, I've not read Liars Poker but I'm a little surprised by the comments. I thought the author of this article really had some intense and interesting points about the humanity of it all. Eating outrageously wasteful meals then putting into motion the loss of jobs the next day. I think it's an interesting if not sad window into a strange world.
