Totally agree. I am still using Skype 2.8 on OS X Lion at work and on Mountain Lion at home.

I dont see the same ads on TechCrunch in India. My guess is Google is running an Adwords campaign in US to make people sign the petition. I have seen them run campaigns for chrome, gmail etc. before.

Edit: I do see the ads on www.Wired.com though.

I got the success message on site and restarted the app too on iPhone by killing it from the multitasking bar but my friend's status is still unchanged.

Makes me doubt it is a fraud site as BuddhaSource mentioned.

I visited both Kinvey and Parse and the one major difference i can see straightaway is that Parse allows schema less development. From their website:

"For example, you do not need to specify any schemas before pushing data to us. Our data API simply uses a schema-less JSON-like format."

While Kinvey lists "model your data and file requirements" as the first step to using their service.

Of course, both the services are still in beta and post-beta pricing will also be a major differentiator going ahead.

Actually, the original name of the village used to be "Shiv Nagar" (written in brackets in hindi).

Having worked with Infosys, i agree with most of your points though i think the number of engineers varies according to the market conditions.

80% utilization rate is considered good for these companies and so minimum 20% people are always on bench. As the market started going from bad to worse in Dec 2008, i saw more people being deployed in testing than programming.

And its a shame that an engineering student will say that their dream company is Infosys/TCS/Wipro and not Microsoft/Oracle/Google/Apple. I mean cant they even "dream" about being at M/O/G/A?!!

PS: I got kicked out of Infosys training because i could not learn fast enough for them but since then i joined a smaller company as an iPhone Developer and have had an awesome learning experience while my Infosys friends who passed the training now forward their CVs to me because they often work on maintenance and support projects on obsolete technologies.

I was recruited as a fresher at Infosys and had to leave the company after training in Dec. 2008 due to recession starting to set in by the time i completed my 6 months training.

I thought finding a new job would be very hard as the market was not so good but to my surprise, i found a new job within 1 month and started working at an Ahmedabad based startup as an iPhone Developer and now after 2 years, i have developed more than 15 iPhone apps and have learnt enough at my company to start my own.

It was painful to leave Infosys then but looking back, i can say that it is the best thing that has happened to better my career. My friends at Infosys who joined along with me now have mixed reactions about the company as not all of them got into desirable roles and many ended up doing support work and they often tell me that you got out of the company at the right time.

So yes, from my own experience, i can say that a startup is a much better place to work even if the salary is low (the learning experience more than makes up for it) than some large MNC where you wont even know how the module you worked on is being used (or not used at all).
