Will I be able to "burst" from on premise into Azure in this model? I'm in the process of deploying cloudstack/Ubuntu MAAS now for my on premise (and generally longer duration deployment) needs and using Azure for when I need rapid setup/teardown or a large amount of capacity (on demand).

If I could have one stack locally and in "the cloud", I would be VERY happy (especially if it's all tied in with AD, federated etc).

Have you ever tried MobaXterm? I use that as my daily driver shell and am very happy with it! Both for ssh to remote boxes and as a local command prompt

It's got USB/ethernet/arm cpu , and has been incorporated into numerous other projects. It's ~$100.00 USD.

Yes exactly. Most large organizations (with in house counsel) take feedback from software/systems engineering very seriously. For compliance (especially licenses) contract requirements etc. Legal exists to serve/protect the organization.

Um. You work for money. Generally one should have a target amount of money in mind (based on a budget). I rather like the calculation. I'll use it next time I do consulting.

I actually would of reacted the exact same way. It's clear that this is a completely new dev environment and an intentional divorce from xcode/eclipse etc. The people interviewing couldn't get that. They showed zero understanding of the problem space. They were clearly stupid.

This is a fantastic article. Can confirm. Agree with it 100%. Most people are just lazy, or outright incompetent (outside a very small area of expertise).

A wide range of expertise with the ability to rapidly deep dive wherever needed is what I consider a rockstar.

I 100% agree with the don't ask for help advice. People need to ACTUALLY LEARN something. I'm sick of people externalizing the costs of their inadequacies.

So this is very interesting.

As someone who runs a 6509 (almost fully populated with line cards and specialized controllers) as my HOME core switch (with a second one on the way for full redundancy), an open modular switch is very cool.

(I'm currently hacking on OpenFlow -> NETCONF bridging, to bring typical SDN capabilities to legacy Cisco environments). Hence my rather..... extensive home network.

This is very similar to what Cisco is doing with Nexus and the "fabric extender" TOR replacement kit. I'll have to see if Facebook has any of this stuff in GIT and stand it up in a VM environment and play with it (I already do a bunch of OpenFlow stuff on OpenWRT and am looking at implementing an open southbound API on FPGA on the parallela board).

That's exactly what you are looking for. SOHO friendly (fanless, cheap, supports vlans).

It wasn't condescending. It was a succinct, insightful and on point comment.

Basically what I was trying to say is that if you aren't aware of your need for such software (from a pretty good description in my opinion), then the software isn't for you. Just a few seconds of review of the website makes it quite obvious what the software is intended for. Meh.

Have you tried reaching out to local carrier? They usually provide what you need. (Or do you need multiple carrier, multiple country support?)

It's nice to have another alternative SMS implementation. The existing ones (last I looked anyway) were a bit long in the tooth.

(I've been using pushover recently, but have been looking for a good local (modern) sms gateway).

If you don't know what it's useful for, then it's not for you.
