Why GitHub won 2 years ago

Google X/X Development LLC is the Google incubator for possible spin-offs as far as I can tell.

I used to use z, then z from omz but eventually switched fo zoxide because it also works on PowerShell.

RC vehicles, balls with an eye bolt & string w/ a sling shot, and fish tape/poles were key things for the miles and miles of network cable I ran in a previous life.

To add on to the pull string.. if there is a remote chance you have to run a cable the same direction again in the future, try to leave a pull string in place when you pull all the cables initially.

If you deal with ordering lots of Dell servers you can have them customize the BMC security settings(nearly any setting actually). I know of many people who have them either turn the legacy root password back on or use a password they tell Dell.

I insist on a certain boot order from the factory and have the initial pxe boot of the server lock down the idrac. It isn't perfect but it beats having someone pull and scan all those tags.

The police don't know who that man was, or why he was on property that didn't belong to him. They're not mind readers

Exactly. They're aren't mind readers but they made a decision that he was commiting a crime or about to commit one. They escalated it, not him.

I don't know why but using Google Maps on my 6 Pro for navigation there is a chance it will complain about overheating then go into a degraded state followed by finally shutting down. It takes quite sometime before it will cooled enough to be turned back on.

It doesn't happen consistently and it seems to only happen when I'm actually driving with the navigation turned on. It's incredibly frustrating when it happens. I've tried different phone placements, even placing it directly in front of an AC vent but it still occasionally happens.

I usually don't charge it while driving but it has happened twice while charging as well.

Real ID has been implemented in every state and most territories. Not all share their databases with each other, but that isn't a requirement for usage for using the ids for air travel in the US.

After a few big delays, the deadline for having a compliant id for domestic air travel is 2023-05-03.

I personally had a bad experience attempting to get a compliant id when I lived in Arizona. At the time you could select if you wanted a compliant id or a non-compliant id. My wife and I both selected on the form to get compliant driver's license. Unfortunately when the physical licenses came in the mail they had they weren't compliant and had text indicating they weren't valid for federal identification.

We tried to get them to change this and they refused. Friends had experienced the same issue at the time, but I've been told they now have valid ones that you can get more easily.

- actively dislike terrible songs (hide it on mobile, hit the no smoking sign on desktop)

I see this suggestion a lot, but for whatever reason I never see an option on desktop to dislike songs. Unless I'm really blind.

Does it show up near the track controls?

Why Not WireGuard 6 years ago

I hadn't ever encountered the word until the early part of the article.

So I looked up the meaning and went on a long ride on the train of distraction.

At first I honestly thought it was some state actor level prank because of how everyone insisted it was impossible to translate.

Most of the sites being sketchy top5 looking sites really played into my suspicion. Or lots of good beer.

Edit: fixed something.

Why Not WireGuard 6 years ago

Totally off topic but this is my favorite article to come across when looking around at various networking related things.

It always sends me down a rabbit hole of watching and listening to recordings of people shouting perkele. I always trying to think of a similar word in US English but never can think of anything.

Docker for Mac still uses an intermediate VM, it's just mostly transparent to the user and doesn't require you to manually muck around with docker-machine.

You can even connect to the console of the VM if you run into issues.

For some reason that site doesn't seem to list all possibly reverse dependencies of libssh.

According to the brew uses command the possible dependents are ffmpeg, ffmpeg@2.8, hydra, sshtrix, tmate, wireshark, and yafc. I say possible because some of those can optionally depend upon libssh, but the user has to opt-in to building with libssh support.
