I suspect that 110k number might include the ESP-IDF libraries as well as his own code.
I've written a fairly feature-complete handheld device based on the esp32-s2 and the codebase is about 9k sloc of the C I've written, but that number explodes to almost 40k sloc if I include the esp-idf's imported libraries.
It's not even just the US, that just happens to be where most of these companies register their copyrights, and therefore, where the "infringement" occurs.
Many Western countries subscribe to some form of "contributory infringement" law, where someone can be fined tens of thousands per-work-infringed for simply developing or distributing a tool that can be used by someone else to infringe copyright. It's absurd.
While I completely agree with the general hacker consensus that you should be able to do whatever you want with your hardware, up to and including buying and selling mod services, I cannot for the life of me understand this guy's thinking.
He's running a business modding people's devices, Nintendo catches on and sends him a cease and desist, and so he stops. Congrats, you have narrowly avoided certain financial ruin, and made a bit of cash in the process!
All forms of business and economic-self-preservation logic would tell this guy to continue ceasing and desisting, but he opens the shop back up shortly after and Nintendo, as they are known to do, sues his ass off.

It can't be circular reasoning because it's not an attempt at reasoning. It's an incredibly common English phrase that means "The argument is independently bad on it's own merit", not an attempt to show a logical incongruity. Others have already explained why the argument does not hold up, I don't need to repeat their work here.
And if we want to be pedantic, "especially the part where they claim that the source has a history of bad arguments" would make my "argument" an ad-hominem fallacy, or perhaps poisoning the well, but not circular reasoning. But again, as I said, the argument is bad independent of the people who made it.

If you're doing a 'vote with your wallet' thing to try to convince them to make more retro games that at least makes sense, even if id argue it's a little naive, but that's not even what were talking about. They made a videogame and now people are pledging to buy their hamburgers.
I don't think it's unreasonable anti-corporatism so much as it's a very rational cynicism about the psychological effect of marketing.

General worker apathy is endemic everywhere I go people seem aggravated I would dare to check my order and point out they didn't put in the ketchup i asked for, or the napkins, or whatever. Or when I dine in the tables are dirty. Or the gym is filthy, the cleaner just drags the mop around looking busy but accomplishing nothing. But in many instances they keep asking for more tips.
I don't think I'm off base in asserting that _this_ attitude is a major contributing factor to why the world feels "in decline" to you.

I don't think cancellation is about changing the person-being-canceled's mind on a given opinion. I believe it functions entirely to signal to the rest of society and culture that such positions and actions are unacceptable.

I don't know how prevalent this was, but I was trained to lie to customers in order to sell them. I was told the warranty would cover any damage to products at all, and 5 months in I finally read the fine print and realized I'd been used to scam hundreds of people. Quit shortly after.

This technology is actually quite inconsistent with gender studies, which is why I find it quite baffling. Gender as an identity would imply that a female could have a deep gravelly voice and that a man could also have a higher pitched softer voice, as ones gender identity need not be dictated by their born sex or physical attributes.
This is quite fundamental to gender studies, making this tech not just useless, but completely counter intuitive to that project.

This would have the unintended consequence of poor people voluntarily going to prison as a means of payment. The social implications of this would be devistating. class stratification is already a major issue in the country. The last thing we need is literal debtors prison.

Apparently they aren't that woke if they aren't aware of the systemic injustices that lead people to become homeless. But then again, most people aren't. Most people seem to dismiss homeless people as "lazy freeloaders who are just trying to get drugs" as if they're all addicted to drugs and that somehow addiction and poverty are moral failings worthy of scorn and contempt.
This test has some interesting edge cases though:

People will often say that Stalin's USSR was not communist, but was rather in a pre-communist phase. In the USSR this stage was known as the dictatorship of the proletariat, which according to Lenin, would eventually fade allowing a state-less, class-less society to flourish. Obviously they never got to that stage, but honestly even arguing this is semantics. Communism vs precommunism is a real time waster of a political debate, but I've never heard anyone describe any stage of the USSR as "capitalist". Perhaps state capitalism, if you really want to stretch that definition, but that's still a very different thing.
Generally lefties will distance themselves from Stalinism and Maoism by describing those forms as "authoritarian socialism", as opposed to "libertarian socialist" ideologies like what they had in socialist Catalonia, or Anarcho Communism as it's described in The Conquest of Bread.
It's not really all that useful to place the blame on the individual politician when they are all susceptible to this behaviour.
It's like how in my town there's a stretch of road that is really shitty. All potholes and uneven road. Almost all drivers I've seen go over it way too fast and often damage their vehicles. Sure, I can blame each individual driver for not being 100% attentive, but when they all fuck up in the same way, some blame must be placed on the conditions that allowed them to all make the same error.
