Yes, I think for your use case they work fine. I also read a review from a father that watches his kids while listening to things on the OpenFit.

However, outside with noise, I find them unusable.

The difference is that the OpenFit are not bone conducting, they have speakers which sit over the entry of your ear. And I think that's the reason why they are not really working for me.

Maybe I should give the bone conducting ones a try.

I mean that at one point the surrounding sounds are louder than the music. Of course I could turn the music up, but at one point it's just too loud.

They are just speakers on top of the entry of your ear. So the music competes with the surrounding sounds.

I was expecting that the surrounding sounds blend in with the music instead of drowning it out. Like you can hear music coming out of a speaker while a car passes.

Shokz OpenFit ear phones. I bought them to be able to go running or cycling while listening to music and hear my surroundings. However it doesn't really work, because as soon as there is a little bit of noise around I can't hear the music anymore. A passing car, or a little bit of wind(which happens quite often on a bike) is enough to not hear anything that comes out of them.

I work an app that lets me download and convert my plex music collection on my computer. I have a large collection that is mostly in flac. And I have a cheap mp3 player that I use for sports. However that mp3 player has only 8gb of storage, which is very little if filled with flac files. So with my app I can browse my music collection and select albums which then get downloaded and converted to mp3.

Yes, I reduced from full time 40 hours to 32 hours. Which results in a 4 day workweek. I did this when becoming a freelancer. I'm in Europe and salaries here are not that crazy high as in the US, so getting a 20% pay cut might even hurt. However currently I make around ~110k per year with less work than before, thanks to freelancing.

On my off day I do the bare minimum of work, like writing invoices and do taxes. This takes max 30 mins, depending on what I have to do. The rest of the day I do whatever I want, without feeling guilty. I do sports, nap in the afternoon, pursue my hobbies or go shopping.

This really increased my mental health. And it was absolutely worth it. My "day off" helps me regenerate and just takes all the stress away. My plan is to do this until I retire, or even reduce my hours more.

I heard an interesting podcast where they interviewed a German pilot. And he said that in order to get promoted(getting to fly a bigger plane, in his case) the only factor that counts is the years of experience. There is nothing a pilot can do (this might depend on the airline) to speed up this process. The reason is that they want to avoid pilots taking risks in order to "get better", like being faster, more fuel efficient etc.

Depends what you want. If you want to go into Android development, then I would say that Kotlin is the go to language.

Being able to read and write Java is also beneficial imo, since some projects also have old code in Java. However all the teams I've worked in are committed to write their Android applications in Kotlin.

I also see that Kotlin gains traction in backend development, since it's fully interoperable with Java.

When I see a book I might like, I put it on my wishlist on Amazon or on my To-read list on Goodreads. Then when I finish the book I'm reading, I take some time to decide what to read next, by looking at those lists, and buy the book I want to read.

This is especially convenient since I only read on a Kindle. So shipment is not a thing I have to think about.

It's true, there are electric bikes that are fast. However I never feel unsafe because of them. For me the bigger annoyance are the scooters which are also allowed on the bicycle lane (in my City, afaik not Amsterdam). Those are mostly faster than the allowed 27mk/h and ride very aggressive.

Yes, when you once lived in a city in The Netherlands you never want to go back into any other country, where are cars are used as main transportation inside cities.

Everybody cycles here and it feels very safe to do it, however the infrastructure is the most important part. Cars are second class citizens most of the time and people driving them know this.

I like the idea itself. However I would not use such kind of service since I'm always assuming that when I'm dead those services aren't there anymore.
