I can only stand running for 5 minutes. Granted, I run on the treadmill which is pretty boring but running outside doesn't appeal to me. I favor Pilates as a way to sculpt my body. Capoeira is also useful, but only for those who are physically able to handle intense muscle strain and cardio endurance.
Where's the motivation for pressing on if there's a certainty of failure i.e. a certainty of your startup not making a profit?
If the motivation comes from an innate desire to learn more about your market, your competitors, etc. then working on a startup begins to look more like academic field research and less like executing a viable business model.
Not to collapse into an argument over semantics, but the very core meaning of the startup concept absolutely rests on the will to survive no matter the odds, a strong desire to succeed and sustain itself as an entity that provides something of value to real customers.
If this is true, then the founders of the startup who got into it only to have a "powerful experience and greater knowledge" would, in essence, be going against the very nature and purpose of a startup.
Not only would that be more productive, I think it would make for a much more interesting study. What are the common traits found in the 0.015% of women who choose to create startups, and how can we encourage these traits in other women who have an interest in entrepreneurial ventures of any kind?
I can't think of one off the top of my head without it sounding contrived!

Actually, I do this often - I often think about why something is bothering me or why a particular incident hurt me or offended me. Maybe because I'm pretty introspective, I literally don't know how to put off things that bother me because they are ever present in my mind.

Written from a truly male perspective. Even girls who choose not to make attractiveness a priority find that, eventually, it becomes a priority that society imposes on them. Or at least a topic that's constantly brought up when talking about a woman's abilities. How many articles talked about Elena Kagan's "mannish, butch" looks when she was appointed to the SC? Or Michelle Obama's fashion sense when she became First Lady?

While I agree that we need to see more algorithmic competition in this space, I fail to understand how any of these new SEs would generate revenue apart from the current ad-supported/PPC model. If these SEs continue to use ads to make money, then the problem of content farm spam would simply migrate to these sites. All they would need to do is to figure out how best to game the new algorithm.

In my experience, I have seen that very attractive women who want to be taken seriously by men will have a man as a business partner. This seems to take the edge off for other guys who may be too intimidated to approach the beautiful girl or who assume that someone so beautiful cannot also be intelligent and capable of doing business.
As a woman, what bothers me is that we have to constantly tow the line between being beautiful and not taken seriously or being average/butch/unattractive and judged to be too serious. It's a problem because even the most open-minded men are still heavily influenced my a woman's appearance and will make assumptions about her business acumen and character based on that alone.

If the author of the article is questioning why one race dominates in a certain sport, then asking the follow up question of why that same race is noticeably absent from a different sport is related. We're talking about black people and why they do well at some sports; you could also talk about black people and why they seem not to do as well in others.

I went to an Ivy League school and based on my experience, I found the author's comments to be exaggerated. How in the world could he not find anything to speak to the plumber about? Furthermore, why should he blame it on class differences when it was probably more of a case of social inadequacy? Although there are many ivy leaguers who major in econ or finance in order to work at an i-banking or big consulting firm in nyc, there are others who have different goals. My friends consisted of the latter and we created our own space within our school while still feeling very much a part of campus life.
