The issue started when Israel was ready to have recognition from Saudi Arabia on their statehood. This would make Hamas irrelevant. And puts Sunnis (Iran) lesser recognised. Meanwhile Shia's (Saudi) will become the defacto in the Muslim world and half of Muslim world would either tolerate or be OK with Israel. Hamas attack on Israel at Oct 7 stopped that. Hamas has been supported by Iran for a long time. So in the whole Gaza - Israel thing, Iran was backing Hamas. Then they proxied with them by providing assistance. Then they eventually directly got involved.
You need to understand, there was good period of peace between Israel & Palestine until Oct 7.
While I reject US toppling govts around the world, Iran's hand is not clean in this one. But also, US thought this would be as easy as Venezuela and killing Iran's leader will stop this. Interfering in other countries biz have consequences. And in this case, it's true for Iran & US.

This is an absolute valid concern. We either need strong governmental interventions to these models who don't comply with OSS.
Or accept that there definitely wont be open model businesses. Make them proprietary and accept the fact that even permissive licenses such as MIT, BSD Clause 2/3 wont't be followed by anyone while writing OSS.

Non-profit doesn't mean community project. Rust foundation is a non-profit 501-c(6). Which is a non-profit category for trade unions and stuff. It's not a charity categorization. It's run by corporate members and works only for the members which are - surprise corporates. A community member like you or me doesn't have any say (Unless you have $325k per year to pay) - https://rustfoundation.org/get-involved/. This is the same case with Linux foundation as well. It's NOT a community project. The only difference is, Linus has more say cos trademark is on him.
PSF and Zig foundation are charity / commuinty projects cos they are non-profit 501 c(3). It's categorised as public charity or for the good of people. You and I can have more say in it. NOT THE CASE WITH RUST.

Nope. Rust is governed by corps. Its not a community project.
They fund it cos they want to use it for their thing. Does not mean they own them. They are all community governed projects.
Rust, Julia, Typescript on the other hand are governed by Corps. They are not community projects.
Elixir is BDFL (good one) last I checked. Dont know if they became a company or foundation.
Zig is for all purposes a good example of community governed project. Itcs in production at Bun and TigerBeetle. But also, its not yet production ready (v1.0). So their current trend make sense.

The community members had a huge voice in the project. They were part of the releases. And I dont remember what they were called. Community managers?? They pushed them off and took all their access and privileges systematically. Which led to an exodus of them back in 2015? '16? Or was it in '13?

Very interesting read. As someone who inherited the ancestors house which is 90+ years old, its really a fascinating read.
I have often observed that my dad's sisters and himself don't care enough about a lot of things that are old in our house. Mostly because they grew up seeing it or grew up with their parents obsessing over it.
But I wonder, what would the author's younger generation think about it? Because we didn't grew up with it. Everything around us is disposable. Lifeless. Valueless. We dispose the plates that we eat and things we have like we watch a new movie in Netflix.
So maybe her younger generation sees it from a different light? Cos every other night, they eat from disposable plates. Her generation can't buy the finesse the old generation things has (for things that are heirloom worth ofcourse).
My dad reads his newspaper in a chair which was auctioned out by the British after world war 2 financial troubles. My great grandfather bought it. And I sleep in in my great grandfather's bed. Both not things to care or is valued by my mom and dad. But very surreal whenever I think about it. We don't always have to go new.
Maybe give another generation chance to connect. Tell the stories about it to them. They maybe fascinated cos it's new with history to them while it was a day to day thing for the author herself?

Indians who have huge spending potential are in huge numbers. They are just leaving India.
High skilled Indians are leaving in large numbers due to the tax regime that India is. I think it was 2022 where we recorded the largest number of Indians surrendering Indian citizenship. It's like India prepares and grooms them and they just leave. And I dont blame them.
Every single damn thing can be traced back to tax we are burdened with irrespective of left/right govt in power.
We pay tax like first world countries but get services like poorest of the poor countries.
Corporates are levied high tax. And international corporates even more. The argument is to support Indian companies.
And almost every Indian company provide horrible services which is why Indians always prefer foreign products/services. Now with International companies levied hefty tax, they cut corners, increase prices. So in effect we pay more and always get bad experiences.
Just take BS4 to BS6 transition in automobiles. Vehicles with a larger width or something was added with luxury tax and many of companies moved to cut corners to stay in business. My car has provision and setup for ventilated seats but its removed to cut corners. BS6 version of my car have cheaper infotainment systems than my BS4 version.
We pay the highest tax for fuel. There are countries we provide fuel for which has 60ish/litre in our local currency. But we pay 100+/litre. Surpise, its tax.
We dont get any good electronic products cos high import costs. And companies which has released stuff always have limited options or pay higher price for the same setup than everyone in the world. IIRC Indians pay the most for an Apple product in the world. I donno if things have changed after they moved production here. I dont think so.
We pay 15 years worth of road tax in advance and we still have to pay for toll plazas. And we have horrible roads.
Oh and we dont get any high quality products we produce. Whether it is tea (assam, darjeeling), coffee, nuts like cashew nuts, fruits. We get 3rd, 4th or quality and everything in 1st quality is exported. If you want high quality cashew. You go to duty paid shops and get it. And you will see its imported but the brand is an Indian brand and its actually sourced from India.
Automobiles as well. There are automobile factories which produce high quality stuff for EU in India and the same factories produce subpar thing for India.
I can go on and on. This govt changed some things for middle class in this budget for tax. So lets see.
