In your comment, is allowlist a list of videos only they can watch? (not a list of 'age ranges' or 'channels', but actually being able to select individual videos). I was never able to get something like this out of youtube kids when I've tried it in the past.

All these services curate for kids and I want to choose what my kids watch, so they are all failing me. (I'm with the others who go with YT premium, youtube-dl, kids watch with vlc or something on a tablet).

I would gather the submission intend to point out that this 'news event' was 'rare' and therefore worth submitting (rare because of the success, being a single founder, and being a woman in a field where (I presume) women are significantly less numerous). Is someone claiming they love to dance to the doctor to see their child in pain?

I have a newborn. He has been upset, in pain, and sick in his first 6 months - we always try to do what is best for him, our family, his health, and public health. Dancing or allowing his discomfort to heavily bias our decisions never even remotely occurred to us.

Seems that I can't 'shuffle' play my own library by genre (or 'mood'). Which makes Beats about the thousandth company to not offer this (common sense?) option. I can do this with Google Play Music (thankfully). Personally, there are plenty of ways to get 'curated' music...make it easy for me to play what I want.

Also, spent about 15 minutes on their site and still couldn't find the web player...maybe launch day issue?

I'm guessing critics are often historically wrong about the importance of various artists. How are you determining most of them don't take his work as value additive? Why do you accept their opinion as valuable?

As someone who has been spending time this year learning to code, I just wanted to say this essay is EXACTLY what I have been yearning for. Thanks for putting this together.

Wish I knew this 12 years ago at your age:) Now that I have gone through years of becoming a more 'effective and efficient person', I agree with they key points you lay out here and really appreciate you writing it (so I can refer others to it). It seems that much modern thinking on 'how the brain works', choices, and productivity is in line with what you are talking about here (that habit forming is essential, but most people's brains find a way to get in the way (or most people let their brain find a way to get in the way)).

It's ok, Taubes doesn't take most dietitian and nutrition researchers seriously either :) (thankfully, imo). -demagogue

I think the more interesting theory (Gary Taubes's I believe) is that most of us have the causation backwards. People are eating 'all this food we have' because they are obese, not that their obesity is caused because they ate all that food.

Well, it is important to note that society has often been incorrect about what things are healthy or not; so I think one should always be careful about the way things are 'considered' (not that I am arguing against fruit). If you check out some of Dr. Lustig's other work you will see he states fiber is the main reason fruit is not as 'dangerous' as fructose outside of fruit. Obviously all fruits are not the same either (in terms of amount of fructose and other characteristics).
