No, but it is still quite fast.

On chromeOS network bring up is extremely fast. We are talking 1-3 seconds from cold boot to your emails have been synchronized.

My Ubuntu is almost as fast, if we subtract the 4 seconds the ugly bios screen adds.

No idea about Android, but did you read the end of the article?

These guys were on the featured list and showcased in apple commercials before they were suddenly dropped.

I am not sure if this is "withdrawal of special treatment". These guys made great ios apps, both before and after they started making Android apps.

This is very useful for quick prototypes. 2k is no money for a company on a tight deadline.

At DIY level however there are already multiple open source projects doing this for a fraction of the price.

Also, even if this was related... Can you really use shattered for MITM during key exchange which takes fraction of a second when that attack takes weeks of computation on a cluster of supercomputers??

RDF jokes aside, I think this will be released as a pure music player first and get smart assistant functions within a year. I don't think it will get an open API the same way google home has but apple will inatead partner with select companies.

I believe you are confusing microcode (which is mainly used for complex and slow instructions and does not need to be RISC) with micro-ops which is the Intel lingo for the internal RISC operations.

Register renaming is a key part of high performance ISA emulation. The x64 has 16 gp registers but the internal RISC normally has 80. Of course this is also a key part of OOO and alike as you mentioned.

Are you familiar with the newer mips revisions?

They have been​ modernizing the architecture during the last 10 years.
