Just for reference [0], NYC police's response times for "serious" and "non-critical" 911 calls are close to or over 10 minutes. Responses to "alarms" (which I assume would be things like B&E to a shop after hours) is over 30 minutes.

Have you considered the value that an astronaut represents? AFAIK, they are basically genetic anomalies along with extreme learned discipline and intelligence. They're like an asset. Replacement cost of an engineer in tech is estimated to something like 3x their pay, think about how much money it costs to replace an astronaut.

Is there an entity out there trying to solve the design issue around cars? Like, why is it possible to do the erratic behavior you describe when you leave room for the car ahead of you? I think you make a good point here that a lot of people miss: we have things like cheap groceries because as a society we prey on vulnerable people. When do we accept that the reason we get to have avacados and limes year round everywhere in the country is because we are all collectively taking advantage of people? And we have to accept that if we want to take advantage of people less, our day to day will be more expensive.

it's absurd to say that you're limited by body weight exercises. there are so many "scientific process" body weight regimes to choose from. barbell training has such a high barrier for entry for so many people when really most people just need to do something.

But the plain english truth is the Trump video. The analogy helps explain what people are observing.

When people say "i don't have a problem with what he said, because he said for people to go home" the analogy helps ground the idea that while he may have said go home, he also said things that would rile them up.
