It dosent compare, but then when working with php and mariadb you dont often use the advanced/esoteric features you have in SQLserver

Well there is less configuring with wamp and there are gui tools to manage things, installing the services in linux and setting them up is always a bit more work. I have never tried xampp in linux so it might be equal there.

There's a reason people jokingly call it microsoft java. The second half might be mischaracterizing it on many fronts but the first half is true to form. I'd argue it as an argument in this matter is similar to bringing up the best platform for developing with Swift.

It being an complete integrated package from the OS to the IDE is the best feature about dotNet. You can look at it the same way as "the lisp machine" but with better third party software support. I guess swift has the same benefits, altho when i tried it the tools where not really up to the same standards as visual studio.

I have yet came across a language platform i cant develop with ease on windows. Also these days with tech such as docker etc there really are no boundaries.

With php its very little difference except that you run Windows and get all the benefints from that regarding drivers and software support, i have yet found an equaly good database manager on linux as heidiSQL(it is unstable in wine) for ex. Also it "feels" easier to click on the wamp installer and just run it from there compared to sudo apt install xyz.

With C# the difference is huge since you just need to install visual studio and you have everything you will need, with the best tooling there is.

In my view Windows has always been a great development system. Been doing both php and c# development on windows for years and it always been "start computer, install wamp/editor or visual studio" then you are set and can develop great software.

I have a thinkpad X1 bought in 2019(idk which gen) its horrible as a linux laptop, mainly because of the scaling issues. But also the touchpad is not good. Its quite bad in windows but even worse in linux. The battery get empty much faster in linux as well.

Another annoying thing about it that has nothing to do with the os is that the trackpoint randomly makes the pointer "drift" and theres nothing you can do when that happens except to wait for it to stop. It seems to be sort of a common thing on thinkpads and i have gotten lenovo to replace my trackpoint and its still an issue.

Do you really use all of that computing power for the stuff that is running on the server. All of the home lab setups i have seen have been way over powered and under used. Lots of "wasted" computing power to just be powered on and never really utilized.

The real need of any home server has really dissapeard now when there are cheap services for everything and all of them do it better than any setup am willing to dedicate my time on. If you really want something just buy a cheap NAS and it will run everything you want with minimal setup.

Most people born with family whealth waste the money and loose it in a few generations. Very few manage to turn their resources into facebook, tesla or amazon.

Is this the reason why american houses "feel" cheaper or less sturdy compared to houses in my home country of sweden.

It was one of the stranges feelings i had when i visited usa that the houses felt like toy houses or something.

1. I have no idea sadly.

2. I have a guess that i would perform a bit better in a regular and more disciplined school, since i did much better when i moved to "gymnasiet"(late highschool). This school had a much more traditional way of teaching.

3. When i was 16 i moved on to gymnasiet(later highschool) and did okay there. After that i tried to get into university but i did not have good enough grades to get accepted. So i went to a diploma school, much like a coding boot-camp, which i dropped out of to start my company which is what i do now.

I went to a Montessori school during my childhood.

It really was the worst option for a kid like me. They let my ADD run loose and there was no real organization or dicipline at all. I remember i could spend weeks just walking around in the school and do "montissori tasks" every now and then. For regular school work they asked me every other week what i wanted to learn and let me write it down in a schedule and expected me to just learn it on my own and if i needed help i could ask a teacher for help. This led me to do the absolute minimum or pretty much nothing.

I was so behind on everything in school that i had to repeat school years several times and then before finishing cram everything i was behind on during the last year in a separate summer school.

For the kids with natural dicipline and organization it was really benefitial. But for a kid like me that needed to learn dicipline and organization it was truly the worst.

My parents insisted on keeping me there because they really beleived in the montissori way and thought i would do worse in a traditional school.

I have quitted social media many many times. But i always end back up, even tho i get that liberating feeling. There is alway this boring evening that makes you want to just check in and se what is going on and then it grabs hold of you.

I think Windows is the best platform for PHP development. I just need to install wamp and vs-code and then am good to go.

I can use whatever hardware i want without worrying about drivers and compatibility and just about every other advantage windows have.

I have not yet found an alternative for HeidiSQL thats free to use that works on other platforms, every other alternative costs money and or is not as good. HeidiSQL on wine is horrible.

How far away am i where i can have a windows arm laptop to develop php applications on and superb battery life?
