Surely such a small variable wouldn't change anything about the conclusion. And the method used to calculate global mean surface temperature has never changed either.

Good article. I look forward to the day when Ehrlich’s bad ideas are no longer en vogue.
Do projects like Jumpstart Pro or Bullet Train exist for other languages? Like Go?
Regardless of what did or did not happen the whole thing smells to high heaven. This is analogous to when authorities take your device out of your sight. It must be considered compromised after that.
Conspiracy theorists aren't going out on the streets protesting the gradual erosion of civil liberties.
I love a good No true Scotsman mixed with a twist of ad hominem.
And what about all of the “conspiracy theories” that have turned out to be partially or totally true? Were those just lucky guesses?
Ground beef got a C which tells me everything I need to know about the utility of the system.
Yeah not exactly a novel hypothesis at this point. People have been saying that since the GPU mining heyday.
FedNow is owned by the Federal Reserve, and not by a bunch of banks.
Sorry I have to ask. What do you think the Federal Reserve is?
This is the type of thing I don’t trust the government to act on. The people that would write the legislation have been bought and sold by the same people trying to make movies from cloned AI actors.
Martin Luther also threatened the Catholic Church by translating the Bible from Latin into German. That was the first time people other than priests had wide access to the text directly.
Maybe I'm old, but I still like to own my music.
Maybe. Good idea nonetheless.
What is a bright kid supposed to do when their parents have a third grade education?
What do they do in the current system? Get stuck in a class that can’t move faster than the average student?
Neither of you know anything about one another.
Perhaps it’d be more useful to ask questions to make sure you have the best information to make a decision with.
Wow you sound very confident in your speculation. Surely predicting the outcome of lotteries is a more lucrative use of your skills?
The purpose of news is not to inform. It’s to generate fear based on biases and use that to generate clicks and more fear. If done well, it’s designed to create an unvirtuous circle of fear and clicks.

I benefit from regular access to information that clearly is unmediated.
No experience is unmediated. There is always an interpretive apparatus attached to perception.
In my mental model, propaganda can come from anyone with a political agenda, and that will certainly include economists from time to time.
The person/people/groups writing the thing may not even be aware they’re creating propaganda. Arguably it’s more effective that way.
Well, Climategate happened. So there is legitimate reason to be skeptical of dire claims. And yes, I’m aware all of those involved in the scandal were cleared of wrongdoing. That’s like the FBI investigating itself and finding nothing wrong.
Anyways, the fundamental assumption of most models—-that humans are behind climate change—-has not been sufficiently evaluated or tested. I find starting with that assumption unscientific.
Interesting side note “boustrophedon” translates roughly into “writing as the ox plows” hence the zigzag.
They lied. That’s what it’s called. Not left out.
It seems like there have been a at least a couple articles critical of Pichai in as many months. Wonder if someone is trying to undermine or replace Pichai.
Engagement is engagement. Ryan Holiday wrote about this years ago. He’s not an academic but has a solid grasp on the practical aspect of how to exploit this tactic.
I’m sure someone is working on adding support for human-like errors in LLM outputs.
That could be a more effective approach.
People don’t need a lot of things. However certain foods, like animal products including milk, lead to optimal health. That’s how the Dutch got so tall. So you can drink your diluted nut or grain water. I’ll stick with bioavailable nutrients from animal foods.
It’s silly to think that new technologies aren’t incorporated into art in all kinds of ways. Some are positive and some are negative. I can think of a dozen different ways a writer could use ChatGPT in a way that augments their own creativity and would be indistinguishable to readers. If you think formulaic or thoughtless writing is new I’ve got news for you.
Is that a serious suggestion? Who on earth would take the time to look through all of those to see which one best fits them? Companies have enough trouble getting press releases read already.
They're very good at tone, and feeling right without actually being write.
The text they generate is probably free of errors like this one as well
This is a service for companies that already store all of their e-mail, documents, files, chat, etc with Microsoft. If there was a concern about data privacy that company wouldn’t be using Microsoft 365 in the first place. I think the bigger concern is how your data is used for training. If it is at all, I don’t know.
