Not sure if California is EU-lite or it has surpassed them, it sucks sometimes here, they are on a path to regulate and ruin everything.

This is pretty cool and useful. I actually might adapt it to aid me in tracking projects around my dirt bike, similar tracking events.
Because people get blinded by dogmatic ideologies that chastise them for going against and/or questioning any position held by given side.
It's all or nothing.
I've noticed this as well, past couple of years it has turned into more panel/ytuber focused, less about the actual projects showcased on the ground floor. Not to mention, it is pricing out many from attending.
I've been recently going this route, everything is static. If I can't host them on an S3 bucket, then I'm building it wrong.
Sites are way too bloated nowadays, a lot of the content being served can be static and cached.
This is the right attitude. The amount of people who's world crumbles when they get banned and heavily depend on its engagement and income is too high.
In terms of Bluesky/Threads, etc. When a platform's intrinsic value is that, "it's not the other platform", it won't last or will only track very niche and closed-off groups. What does Bluesky offer that is unique/different?
Federation, as the post mentioned, is something the average user doesn't care or is beyond their comprehension. Too much friction as it is implemented, the best way is to organically and transparently implement it, if it's even possible.
I use one for my Synology UPS with no issues, has saved it multiple times and is able to gracefully shutdown when switched to battery for x-minutes.
I agree. I now see both extremes(horseshoe) and in-between as much. While before it was heavily leaned towards the left.
This made my day. A lot of memories... thanks for sharing.
Can also include motorcyclists/cyclists, which aren't necessarily considered "athletes". Maybe "recreational use" might had been more apt.
Really wondering if this can be combined and standardized through ECE 22.06/SNELL/MIPS. ECE is probably the best bet for testing something like this, SNELL is too strict in its testing experimentation.
Many people here missing Carlin's point about "soft language". Think more on the examples of forcing oneself, either by choice or by social factors.
suicide -> "unalive" homeless -> "unhoused"
I absolutely hate these terms.
Absolute lunacy from this proposal. They well know the current timeline for phasing out ICE vehicles is actually not going that well and they want to further accelerate that timeline? That's just plain greedy, they know Tesla is dominating the EV market atm, this will hurt and slow down current manufactures.
We are already seeing Ford slowing the production for the lightning line because the demands is just not there, there is a huge gap in infrastructure to support the upcoming wave of EVs.
People are just very hesitant to jump the EV boat, and well justified. EV charging is a mess of apps, unreliable charging rates, and just general availability in non-metro areas.
I thought the inclusion of Pais' patents was more along the lines of, here is a patent related to our work, rather than we sourced tech from it.
Threads will be good for brands since they won't have to worry about controversial content, though eventually everything is going to be bland content if you are being censored to what Meta thinks is "appropriate". Though could be interesting if they pivot towards a more topics/community model.
The fact that this topic is so touchy, even in the tech/science circles which by far are the most "progressive", tells us that there is a lot of unresolved definitions that aren't talked about because of fearing to offend.
It is absolutely insane that we are allowing the destruction of culture in this manner. Can people not leave works for what they were? What has happened to today's society that everything has to be sunshine and rainbows, they can't enjoy anything without being enraged by something they don't agree. Should we only consume media that we agree with? What a boring life that is.
I second this. I don't see the point of deleting our own stuff, it's like burning books from a library of unique books.
I'm in the same boat tbh, website and app are good enough for me, I really don't understand the need for other apps.
Simple, because it's easier to convince people that being overweight is perfectly fine and healthy. As opposed to changing diets, exercising, and holding companies accountable for the junk they put in our food to cut costs.
You clearly don't understand how the language works. Let me give you an example. "The latinx" "La/El latinx", where La(F) -> '-a' and El(M) for '-o', how do you replace that? Everything is gendered and this is not restricted to just Spanish.
Americans can continue to use latinx, fine, but don't impose that onto natives because that just doesn't make sense in their native language. And saying, "we need to educate the older generation" is arrogant and disrespectful, we understand it quite well.
Our language doesn't need fixing, that's just the way it is. This whole latinx is literal cultural imperialism. It's not about not understanding the meaning of using these terms, it's the fact that it suggests that our entire language should be changed to be more "inclusive".
Trying to reason with a side that is unable to take a joke or understand satire is futile. It is their way or the highway, no in-between. And unfortunately they've become the gatekeepers of all things in tech and media, so their messages is over-amplified in comparison to their numbers, they think they are in the right and won't take consideration for anyone that disagrees.
We all enabled this behaviour, we are at fault.
Toyota was also testing out synthetic fuels on their 3cylinder platform. I'm glad mfgs are testing different things and not just sticking to one thing just because everyone else is doing that. Interesting how Japanese carmakers are still not convinced on full electric, time will only tell. https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/toyota-gr-86-n...
I agreed with most of what he's done up to the point where he banned ElonJet, and now these journalists. It's so dumb to ban an account that was simply sharing already public ADS-B data, it's completely legal, my guess is that he had a bunch of other rich friends that were calling for him to remove these accounts. As for journalists, I guess we'll need to wait, early guess is that Twitter has probably found some dirt involving them with old-Twitter board.
I don't understand why most journalist/users don't spend <5min on the wayback machine to see that this exact wording has been in the ToS since Sep 2021, and very similar wording since before that time. They didn't add anything after the backlash. People equate the 'Updated' message to mean that the wording is new, it is not. https://web.archive.org/web/20210922061858/https://www.paypa...
This is why I think they created RTX, they knew hardware was already good enough for most players playing at 1440p or even 4k ( I run AAA games non-rtx at high 144fps ). It's the same thing with iphones, it's been diminishing returns for a couple of generations already that they are now focusing on creating new software features to justify better cameras, soc, displays...
It really ruins the magic of some (obvious)joke posts when you see a damn fact check box. This "feature" I see it in the same way as warning labels - "Caution: Hot" - treats people as if they can't practice critical thinking and common sense.
I don't know if I'm just lucky, but I've rarely gotten unsolicited (bot)calls in the 10+ years that I've had a google voice + tmobile number. Anything online related I use gv#, for immediate family I use tmobile#. GV, from what I've seen, usually filters out spam calls by default so maybe that's why I haven't noticed.
And he also had access to classified (top)secret level documents, unless I misunderstood wrong, how is that possible in that short amount of time?
wow, you would think saying that would be against some discrimination law but they'll probably get away with it.
