The Megabus Effect 15 years ago

It's a shame that here in Germany, the railway has a state-guaranteed monopoly on long-distance ground travel (this is a law that goes back to the Nazi era!)

So, there are hardly any long-distance bus routes within Germany, only to Berlin (which was an exception from the person transport law that was made in the Cold War era), and to neighboring countries.

I don't want a touch screen on a point-and-shoot digital camera, for example.

Touch screens may turn into a technology that's omnipresent although "educated" consumers try to avoid it (like glossy laptop screens or high-megapixel cameras with tiny sensors)

Well, it might work for them if the admission rules were less strict than in the mobile App Store.

And the mobile App Store turned out to be very profitable.
