They all appear to have suspiciously low karma and durations of consistent activity. I think someone cough went to a lot of trouble..

I agree to a certain extent. The JVM/Maven pom appoach seems to work the most reliably across architectures, which is nice.
Python is a friggin' nightmare by comparison. Some trivial low-complexity operations can take insane amounts of elbow grease due to missing/outdated libs.

Why is it called a python "wheel"?
Should python really have been called "rodent" with "wheels" being the "cheese wheels" we rodents get from the "cheese shop"?
I like Cactus (https://github.com/koenbok/Cactus) and PieCrust (http://bolt80.com/piecrust/). They are both super flexible and have met my static generator needs nicely.
Haven't tried Hyde or Jekyll.
