Michael Pollan has an interesting take on being addicted to Coffee. He suspects most of the modern world is thanks to caffeine and coffee breaks. His conclusion is: although there are some 'negative' side effects, those effects are minimal and the positive effects outweighs them considerably.

There are many embellished, hand wavy statements in this comment.

Could you give real world examples of:

  * "In reality, components have complex interactions far outside of what is captured in the component interfaces"
  * How template metaprogramming "precisely express[es] behavioral contracts... that are difficult to do in other languages" 

I think you contradict your poetry with "Any non-trivial software system has to be reasoned about as a monolith at some level to correctly address complexity". If _any_ non-trivial software system _can_ be reasoned about as a monolith then it is true there exists some model with sufficient simplicity that there are well-defined discrete components.

To add to this I believe the fundamental issue is intent. Deterministic feeds and "organic" virality is trusting purely human intent. Modern algorithms muddy the network of intent and my tin foil hat take is that we're hard-wired to perceive everything as intent from some other human.

I don't have much of an opinion on generational living, but could you elaborate on how it guarantees women disproportionately end up with kin work? Also I find it interesting that the institution of motherhood is completely removed from the modern day narrative of empowerment. As long as it is fairly left up to the woman to choose, why would choosing motherhood not be empowering?

I would ammend the last two points and say Chemistry is Physics applied to physical primitives and Biology is Chemistry applied to organic phenomena or something like that.
