Actually, a real shame is a total lack of really big (millions of records) data sets on pretty much anything medical. And this is of course due to our love with privacy. Probably millions of people died too soon because of that, and many more will follow in the future.

On cellular level too! I remember looking at some summarising paper on Duchenne muscular dystrophy for educational purposes. There was a question regarding concentration of certain molecule inside affected muscle cells. 5 papers were quoted - 3 were showing that the concentration is way above normal if DMD is present while other 2 were showing complete opposite. You can not imagine anything like that in math or physics.

what I'm saying is that until the closest relative to SARS-CoV-2 is known to be exactly the same virus that was researched in Wuhan institute of virology, it's obvious that lab leak should be number 1 hypothesis. That wouldn't be so, if covid started in Beijing or Nanjing. Or if Wuhan wouldn't be home to one of the two BSL–4 labs in China. And the only lab to my mind that investigated SARS-CoV-2 closest known relative before the outbreak. But since all those facts are true, I really have a hard time considering other hypotheses.
