It seems that you are suggesting that the profits made by insurance companies is the key factor funding innovation in health care. This might be worth looking into, but I doubt this is true. It seems just as plausible if not more so that government grants in a country with single payer health care would drive innovation. The government would have an interest in both improving the health of citizens and finding new methods/techniques that reduce the cost of diagnosis and treatment.

Personally I find taking notes to aid in my retention of the material. I might never look at the notes again, but just the act of taking notes (hand written or typed) stimulates memory. This is much different than just reading over prepared notes.

Why not just read the book? It's $10.99 on Kindle, or free from your local library, and will take a weekend to read at most. You're bound to get a few good nuggets out of it. Also a relevant related resource is the 'How to Build a Startup' course on Udacity by Steve Blank. (www.udacity.com/course/ep245) Good stuff! On the other hand, rephrasing the question away from "Is it worth reading..." it would be great to hear feedback as to what parts are most relevant and/or differences of opinion.
