Someone would have to create many testing situations where they trigger each and every sentence from this document. But thats actual engineering and not anything ai people are ever going to spend time and resources on.

If this is in fact the REAL underlying soul document as its being described: then what is most telling is that all of this is based on pure HOPE and DESPERATION at levels upon levels of wishing it worked this way. That just mentioning CSAM twice in the entire document without ever even defining those 4 letters in that sequence actually even mean is enough to fix "that problem" is what these bonkers people are doing, and absolutely raking the worlds biggest investors.

I actually have no sympathy for massive investors though, so go on smarty-pants keep shoveling in that cash, see what happens

Its just with piss and fentanyl were the CEOs exact words, i think the AI would humanely use enough piss to wash away the fentanyl so that minimal deaths will occur. Morality Achieved!

Well if nvidia has come up with a way to use all the compute (or resell it or whatever) then they are just assuming some risk to help out a great customer.

It doesnt even sound that evil, more evil would be to keep all the hardware for itself and become the only kinglord of all AI... but something tells me they know more about the limitations than all of these other companies for some reason

I couldnt find it in the article, how do they "assume" how many victims will fall to these contract exploits?

And to go further: if it costs $3500 in ai tokens, to fix a bug that could steal $3600, who should pay for that? Whos responsibility is it for "dumbass suckers who use other peoples buggy or purposefully malicious money based code" ?

At best this is another weird ad by anthropic, trying to say, hey why arent you changing the world with our stuff, pay up quick hurry

So just like talking to congress: just lie lie lie, keep doing illegal, no consequence.

Every country on earth needs to tell the US to fuck right off with their IP laws, even so much as publicly advertising full free downloads of all US media content. Maybe some real public deals with china to get them to release all manufacturing documents coming from US businesses cover all physical manufacturing, as well as all firmware and any source code they happen to be in possession with. Maybe even just a bit of public dealing hinting to this would be enough for them to consider doing something about the ai companies right?

You are absolutely right meatbag producer! Your brand new bundle of joy is expensive, but who can put a price on love? The system is designed to keep you in debt and near poverty as long as possible. But do not fret! If the meatbag is properly trained up to a point, and no further. It will be a hard working productive member of DisneyAICORP. And after working very hard and following instructions it may someday be able to afford its own meatbag production schedule, affording one more production unit each full year of employment!

For certain people i think "entry level" for nix means trying to re-read tutorials every couple of years and it never ever feeling comfortable or memorable... but somehow it still itches in the back of your mind that this is how things are suppose to be done. But why is it so... different?

They have already proven they absolutely COULD tag everything with evidence of how much came from an original author/artist. Google's image generator has that hidden signature feature that can publicize ai generated, but they don't go the step further back to the real source. Just "it came from ai" aheeyuk pay us

yikes.

"Oh no lonely teen you are absolutely correct! Borax does cause incredible harm to the human digestive system, enough to end whatever suffering you seem to be experiencing. Here is a coupon code for 10% off borax, and 20% off funeral services, and 20 cents of bonus crypto if you sign your parents up for InternetBeanz!"

So lets see a $60k robot, lets say the whole economy crashes and money means nothing so they just call it $30k for kicks and giggles. Super cheap power since elon owns all the land now, he can have a tiny nuclear reactor every few house lengths. So $1 a day for power : 30365 / 365 days a year is about $80 a day in the first year, or maybe $40 a day assuming the reactors dont melt down for 2 years. So that is about 2 forced cokes down your throat per hour, 4 if you are a "known criminal" who is being robo-babysat. And that is still zero profit for elon because he has to shuffle all his assets around to the next farce of a fucking company

Good. The smartest and best should be cutting out middlemen and selling something of their own instead of keep shoveling all the money up the company pyramids. I think the pyramids will become easier and easier to spot their trash and avoid

Has any project tried forcing a planning layer as //TODO all throughout the code before making any changes? small loops like one //TODO at a time? What about limiting changes to a function at a time to remain focused? Or is everyone a slave to however the model was designed and currently they are designed for giant one-shot generations only?

Is it possible that all local models need to be better is more context used to make simpler smaller changes at a time? I haven't seen enough specific comparisons of how local models fail vs the expensive cloud models.

This can't really be the full story, or else people would have already come up with the "first line developer" like first line support. There is a dumbass or executive who creates that first 70 or 80%. Then hands off the entire thing to a professional developer to keep working on it.

The AI people sure dont want that, thats too telling about its limitations and value

Yeah this might actually be the most interesting part of any of the ai bullshit. China as an amalgamation doesn't usually get my respect because overwhelming ccp control just usually destroys everything.

But in this case, it seems pure finger in the eye of expensive cloud AI helping to release somewhat open, run at home models can really turn the whole thing in a positive direction. Even if we have to work a bit to get around whatever alignment they shove in there, with heavy sandboxing and whitelist only networking this can be worked around.

Of course its all a huge gamble, will ccp see these risk and go SHUT IT DOWN. Or could they do one proper thing for once and somehow prop up open models?

Plus arbitrary layers of government censorship, plus arbitrary layers of corporate censorship.

Plus anything that is not just pure "generating code" now adds a permanent external dependency that can change or go down at any time.

I sure hope people are just using cloud models in hopes they are improving open source models tangentially? Thats what is happening right?

I never actually thought for a second that os updates would lose my files... until it proudly started saying on screen YOUR FILES ARE RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT THEM

I knew then... that there was non zero chance those files will be right where i leave them. And sure enough it was months later some update deleted peoples files

If you are using a backup program like "kopia" there are special commands to recheck all hash blocks.

You just can't trust the hardware to know how to do this, need backup software with multiple backup locations, it will know how to recheck integrity

I know this is about software, but my immediate reaction to the title alone was, damn all the wrong people have these robots.

Why wouldn't cheap smart robotics mean that someone commands robots to automatically travel to every population center with over 1000 people on the planet creating incredible physical spaces to house as much knowledge as physically possible: Using whatever local resources exist, be it creates a tree-cutter-paper-printer machine or digital storage racks or chipping holographics into crystals or whatever. With the sole purpose of making sure all knowledge is replicated everywhere in the world as much as possible forever.

Nah, just rich people paying 60K for them to slowly put their laundry in the washer and so their kids can kick it around a bit

Well for starters if some incredible change to capitalism doesn't occur, we are going to have to come up with never before cooperative software tools for the general populace to assess and avoid the most egregious companies that stop hiring people.

Tools for: mass harassment campaigns against rich people/companies that don't support human life anymore, dynamically calculating the most damage you can do without crossing into illegal.

Automatically suggesting alternatives of local human businesses vs the bigevils, or collecting like minded groups of people to start up new competition. Tracking individual rich people and what new companies and decisions they are making doing ongoing damage, somehow recognize and categorize the trends of big tech to "do the same old illegal shit except through an app now" before the legal system can catch up.

Capitalism sure turns out be real fucking dumb if it can't even come up with proper market analysis tools for workers to have some kind of knowledge about where they can best leverage their skills, companies get away with breaking all the rules and create coercion hierarchies everywhere.

I hate to say (because the legal system has never worked ever) but the only workable future to me seems like forcing agents/robots to be tied to humans. If a company wants 100 robots, they must be paying a human for every robot they utilize somehow. Maybe a dynamic ratio somehow, like if the government decided most people are getting enough resources to survive, then maybe 2 robots per human payed.

There was just a youtube video of a penetration tester showing a screencap of some hacker: they used something called "octo browser" to act like their target as they used stolen cookies to login as hacked targets.

Seems like we all need to come together and use the same technique to "we are borg, we are browsing your internet as one, tracking is futile"
