Yes that works these days. 2 yrs and running, with minimal tinkering. Can't do that on Android (it would require you to never install an update).

This simply does not happen anywhere, neither in the films nor in the now de-cannoned EU.
He also gets the plotlines of Ep. II and III quite mixed up in a few paragraphs about Yoda, and fails to realise that the Republic is hardly modelled on a modern-day parliamentary democracy but rather the fatally flawed Weimar Republic.
While this doesn't necessarily invalidate his trains of thought, it certainly makes their basis scientifically dishonest.

The amount of lectures where Web 2.0 is dealt with as if it is a real tangible thing is astonishing.
These kind of management-oriented IT degrees are the source of all these problems. They teach managers just enough to be dangerous and make all these buzzwords live on for far longer than their sell-by date.

As a student living off savings from a previous minimum wage job, it is quite possible to live a comfortable life in London. Motivation and time are most certainly part of the few constraints.
I'd like to add financial wit to that. Most people who struggle also struggle to control their finances in any way and spend irresponsively.
I would argue however that both Xenforo and phpBB are ridiculously bloated and should hardly be called basic. phpBB more so than Xenforo obviously. None of them offer the far more robust approach of FluxBB.
Thankfully, as FluxBB is opensource, it can be forked and saved from this development direction.
Sad to see this eating up and killing off FluxBB. Seems like we're slowly but surely running out of basic, universal, no-nonsense forum software in favour of a move to Twitter/Facebook-timelines or Stack Overflow-style layouts, none of which are great mediums for organised discussion.
I'd say the point is valid though if the only function the tunnel is supposed to fulfil is channelling traffic from and to a web browser.
As far as browsers go, only Internet Explorer lacks SOCKS5 support. And I doubt an office which such stringent header filtering has an IT department that doesn't provide people with proper browsers...
I don't think the gaming industry is a good example for what you're saying. Video games have barely shown any development since the mid 2000s.
The first Crysis game was released in 2007 (8! years ago) and despite being an unoptimised mess is still graphically superior to most things released today.
Almost all windows games released are still primarily built on DirectX 9 (with a few optional newer components), despite DirectX 12 coming with Windows 10.
In fact, the major development studios have decided, that the performance offered by cheaply mass-produced consoles with yesterday's hardware is good enough. Why do you think specialised PC gaming communities are complaining that consoles are holding development back?
If anything I'd say the gaming industry is the embodiment of the "is good enough" mentality.
To be fair, this could be easily worked around by requiring residency in the country of the operator.
Just fyi: most countries do not operate a jus soli-based citizenship system. Probably because of the reasons you outline.
He does however have to be elected to parliament via a democratic vote. Unlike the European Commission, where commissioners have no democratic mandate to speak of and yet they hold immense power.
You are incorrect. Since the Lisbon treaty at least, the commission is proposed by the council and then has to be voted on by the parliament.
If anything that gives it even more democratic legitimacy than Cameron, as in his case only he himself, not his cabinet is voted on by parliament.
You are of course within your right to criticize the parliamentary democratic system within it self. However a claim that the processes by which the commission is put in place are less democratic than the processes by which Cameron or Merkel came to power are just outright false.
