Of If I walk 10 km a day on average and do strength trainings 2-3x a week but sit for 10 hours a day - am I sedentary or not?
I just wanted to say I love your ad, I have no experience with C++ but I like how straightforward and honest you are. Best of luck.
What alternatives to React do you propose? I found Angular even worse…
Motorola was my last Android phone. Once they pushed an update that took 99% of my phones memory and I couldn’t install even a single app - I moved to iPhone and never looked back. Over 10 years and counting. I still can’t believe they literally bricked my phone back then.
So far Apple “just works”. Is it perfect? No. But I can’t imagine fuckup of this magnitude from them.
Sounds nearly impossible it took me 3 years to figure out how to properly use my Bluetooth headphones with LTS Ubuntu a few years back. The solution: bought a Mac after 3 years.
There were millions of other annoying small things in Ubuntu itself as well. I’m sorry to say but as much as I love nix systems Ubuntu wasn’t really for general public - maybe it’s better today, not sure. Heard the story over and over again - that it’s superior, and every time I try it I’m utterly disappointed.
They iterate fast because they slap different names at the same thing they’ve been selling for years now.
I feel there’s a lot of marketing and pure bullshit around LLMs configuration and conventions.
Law of diminishing returns applies here perfectly - you can learn prompting in 2 hours and get 400% performance boost or spend weeks on subagents and skills and Opus and st best it’s another 50% boost but not really - in my case in a good day Sonnet is a genius and on a bad one Opus is an moron. One day the same query consumes 6k tokens, the next 700k.
They want to get you hooked and need to show investors they’re super busy but in fact it’s mostly smoke and mirrors. And prompting, once you learn to give proper context, is far from rocket science.
True, people praise Threads like they forgot who’s behind it.
That aside - never heard of xcancel and it seems great!!!
Is it only me or „Apply” barely works lately? The
I don’t drink, I never smoked, I eat clean, I run, I swim, I go to the gym. But I’m also at my desk for 13 hours a day on average and I think it will kill me one day. Trying to stand as much as possible but it’s not always possible,
Loved that story!
Im sure they pretended they did not.
Now they can’t pretend anymore.
Although keeping deleted chats is evil.
Great, another phone for giants. I’ll keep replacing battery in my 13 Mini, hoping for the best…
I battled PF for ages, tried literally everything, and when nothing worked, my feet were in pain I decided to do the dumbest thing in the world and try to only thing I was told I shouldn’t do - run.
I picked a day when my plantar fascia was not too painful and did the first training from c25k plan (roughly 8 minutes of jogging if I remember correctly).
It actually helped me. Don’t try it at home, I think I got lucky because my PF was really not a PF anymore. But I would never found out if I did not run that day. I’ve been running daily ever since, no issues whatsoever.
Do not check out Kanye West on x unless you want to see what no censorship means (spoiler alert: a guy with 33m followers posting porn and glorifying nazism).
As much as I hate Twitter I was unable to read this @ Bluesky at my iPhone 13 Mini because left/right arrows covered words, this is a mobile design straight from the mid 00s. So bad.
Just mix and match two last digits of the year your parents/siblings were born and you’re golden.
Side note; I’m surprised 6969 is not more popular :)
Interesting as I currently work with 15 year old RoR database and a 2 years old Node project and every time I jump into the later I want to kill myself.
And I’m a mainly JS dev. Node is extremely easy to f up, so is the frontend. And with all the generated code today… it’s gonna get only worse.
It’s the real joy. Especially when you do those things on Friday’s evening.
I think DHH was right all along. Typescript is cool if you use it alone but from my experience code like the one produced by the OP gets written by some ex-Java ninja and out of 1000 devs maybe 5 could fully comprehend what the code actually does. AI writes this kind of TS a lot. I don’t say TS is bad but most of the time I feel it’s like trying to kill a fly with a nuke. The worst part is I almost never had the issues TS tries to solve, after all adding prototypes to React took 1/10th of the time than annoyances with TS take.
Great job OP, but my eyes bleed.
You raid two cities and there’s nothing left. It’s mind boggling.
I feel like the world order established after WWII is falling apart not because of tyrants like Putin (as he’s always been this way) but because we started to normalize talking about taking over other countries, dropping “refugees” by mafia and terrorist orgs at our borders, and on top of that we truly treat each other like shit - no amount of PhDs and FAANG exp will make you safe against CFOs Excel sheets…
We really had a good run but something needs to give at last. I hate how polarized we all are, and I just want to love you all.
(I’m not American, the big split happens everywhere globally and I believe it’s even worse in my country even tho we border with Russia and should be unified like never before)
TBH when I was looking for SWE jobs in the UK in 2012 the salaries were… About the same? Maybe less for juniors but got quite a lot of 45-60k offers for mid dev. WTF, Brexit?
One of my fav countries in the world.
I visit it multiple times a year and I can confirm. Nothing has changed in Italy since 2008. At least not for the better. And with one of the oldest populations… It will only get worse.
Italy? Portugal? You must be new to tech, eh?
Policemen in Italy make many times more than software engineers.
DocPlanner has opened an office in Barcelona over 10 years ago to save on dev salaries, people got paid more in Warsaw even back then.
Portugal is kinda dead as a country.
What I found more fascinating is that Poland surpassed Sweden, not a tech powerhouse for sure but it’s Scandinavia, super freaking expensive.
Great job, thanks for sharing.
Just noticed what company you did leave and I have even more respect for you.
Someone get this guy a job please.
As a FE dev I’m not surprised something does not work in Safari.
I love Apple but Safari is the new IE, it’s more and more common for feature to take x then fixes for Safari take x^2, it is a joke of a browser.
With AGI you won’t need most of the human race anymore, developers are just the tip of the iceberg.
Luckily ChatGPT and the rest have nothing to do with an AI not to mention AGI.
Imagine GTA on that map. Wondering how many years away are we from this.
