A million different pieces of engineering, primarily, that the battery is designed to be much easier to replace than disassembling the entire car like the Fiat is.

I cease to understand how the average HN commentator doesn’t see Tesla as the leader in this space, and my only guess is all the FUD media around them. If you have a Tesla, you know that it’s far and above the best driver-assist software in the entire market, and next place isn’t even close. Sure FSD isn’t Waymo, but it’s entirely different tech and it can drive infinitely more places than the two cities Waymo supports.
They do (mis)use the Tesla ones. I don’t expect this announcement means literally anything to any EV brand.

What caught me out was the random argument that undocumented (see: illegal) immigrants should receive social security benefits. By the very definition of how documentation works this would be impossible, so I’m assuming the author is advocating for extending citizenship en-masse.

Uh no, that’s revisionism to define ableism that way, we’re not going to let you rewrite the language. Ableism is specifically “the discrimination and prejudice _against_ people with disabilities”. Not “not caring about the disabilities of others”.
I also think they’re somewhat manipulating statistics to their benefit- they start by saying “1 in 100 people have epilepsy” but it’s an untrue statement that 1% of people have the type of epilepsy that would react to this specific example of flashing lights between 5-25 a second.
I’m glad they bring up the techniques of ghosting and others to pass the Harding test, and the outcry from western audiences about it. Because personally, I find the diminishing of the animation quality really distracting during those hype scenes.
I wish we could find some solution where we distribute the epileptic-safe versions alongside the unsafe ones and users could choose.

Yeah I think this is being understated- reducing the workload or friction from editing existing footage could really help lower the barrier to making quality amateur stuff.
To correct you, the revealing of a past bug happens almost all the time when a company does fix the bug- that’s what lets researchers publish their findings and show the work they do publicly, and usually gives the company some positive PR for showing their willingness and responsiveness to fix issues. There’s literally no way the nation of India is more diverse than the United States- we have the biggest spread of racial, and religious diversity on the planet, by far.
