The usual answer to this question is that LLMs are on the verge of making Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism a reality.

Oh man the birth certificate thing is ridiculous. I had to get a new Id from scratch recently and it was the most painful process

The state I was born in decided to outsource the handling of birth certificates to some shit tier consulting firm.

In order to get my birth certificate shipped to me, I would have to wait over six months simply to process my request (ostensibly due to Covid, but this was 2023). It would have been quicker for me to walk hundreds of miles and get it in person. Thankfully I lucked out and found an old one.

Just a reminder that this is the shit politicians mean when they talk about privatizing government services.

The only cope I guess I can find, is that there’s a good chance they just blow themselves up or something because they decided to “move fast and break things (TM)” with their weapons.

Interesting. Are ISPs known to throttle steam or something. I’ve noticed that steam almost never downloads at the same speed of get doing a speed test. I’ve noticed it many times through out my life, though admittedly I’ve been stuck either way the same ISP across many states.

Those bunkers are already defended. Think of them less as a schizo bug-out bunker and more of the castles of the new feudalism.

Their purpose is solely to protect the land/the lord from people with ideas such as yours following the collapse of the empire.

The 1st one will continue to be true in this dystopian AI art future, the other not so much.

No it won’t, you’ll be too busy trying to survive off of what pittance is left for you to have any time to waste on leisure activities.

I'm not going to give too much more detail here. Obviously not STEM but nothing fluffy.

Which letter? From my (probably mistaken) perspective

S usually requires a PhD to get into the field and if you get that far, it’s a battle for a handful of poorly paid positions waiting for you

T doesn’t need too much explanation here. Not great right now

E alright, but seems to be pretty sparse. A lot of actual engineering positions seem to have been outsourced long ago. Might also be hard to compete with just an undergrad.

M probably the most valuable right now IMO. Wide range of jobs you could have available, often decent if not high paying, but outside of those (if you can get them) you might as well be a philosopher.

The STEM push seemed to be a grift through and through.

That's probably why "old money" doesn't like "new money". New money is crass, loud, and obnoxious. Old money knows that it's best to keep to the shadows, at least until one of their idiot kids ruins it.

I suspect that’s why I’ve seen more serious monarchists than I ever have before.

Lmfao. This is pretty comical. Whine about how humanity gets lost in lofty ideals and then finish with you’re own nonsense ideas

What is needed, is not unrealistic SciFi Visions, but basic measures to raise survive-ability of the species in crisis to come. Decentralize knowledge, create a panopticon by the people for the people, so order can be upheld even when the state collapses. The scenario-tress roots must be hardened, so we dont fall down never to recover.

When the state collapses. The power vacuum will be filled. By those with the most resources at the of collapse.

Putin felt free to attack Ukraine because he wasn't scared of the consequences.

That doesn’t change by letting palantir build the surveillance state.

Putin wasn’t scared of the consequences because he knew it would be politically suicidal the west to risk escalation to a large mainland European war that’s been mostly considered a relic.

These editorials all have a common fault which is that they fail the sniff test of “would you actually do this”. I don’t know if you would call it classism, or an attempt at manipulation, or what, it’s just weird

They know this as well as you do. They don’t have to worry about trying to hide it any, because they know it’s too late for you to do anything about it. The quiet part is often said out loud now.

Jeez... what a damning indictment of today's Universities.

There’s a modern phenomenon I’ve been thinking about but have struggled to put a name to.

Everything just becomes so generalized, streamlined that it becomes impossible to operate outside of the pre defined “happy path”.

AI will make this increase 100x as taking humans out of the loop seems to accelerate this process.

As> Where the heck do these people work? Where is all the money coming from? It doesn't make any sense.

I moved from Florida to a small rust belt city after being out of work for an extended time. I desperately had tried to avoid moving, but honestly I was pretty enamored by the idea of low rent

I have been thoroughly disappointed. Especially seeing the rates people are trying to rent fucking shared rooms for.

I don’t get it though. A lot of these apartments are far beyond average wages. Even if I could afford it,

So had the same question as you. Who the hell is living in these. I certainly know many who could afford to, but they have much better options.

If I can pay $2000 a month to live in a rotting rust belt city, I can probably afford to go somewhere much nicer with a much better market at the same price.

I asked my girlfriend about it, as she’s lived here her whole life and she expressed that the only person she know who’s lived at one of these apartments was an ex who was a trust fund baby. But there cant be enough of them that they’re tilting the market.

Reminds me of when I was visiting family a few years ago in Kentucky. I kept seeing tons of ads everywhere about hiring for plumbers, and some warehouse roles.

The listed salaries were not that far off from what even the local McDonald’s was paying
