the firmware releases were infrequent, the distro is not fully hardened, the linux kernel is old, and imagine having to get this notice now, at this point, and know that there wont be any further updates that fix future vulns. if u have this product, your firmware is now frozen and youre vulnerable to every future issue that affects it. looks like their support stops in 2029, but imagine these devices stay in place for another 10 years, this is a nightmare scenario for anyone with large deployments. in lots of cases we expect some devices to be in place for up to 45 yrs. still, this system wont make it past 2037, max. imagine running it for 12 more years without any fixes. untenable.

First of all, I can start open source project for any reason that I want including all the reasons that he listed that I'm not entitled to. There are no rules and nobody can dictate it either here or elsewhere. Secondly it seems that your lack of education and understanding has led you to this spot and I encourage you to seek more education probably outside the area that you consider your area of expertise. When they did the open space with free snacks I told them I was never coming into the office again. I pointed out that I got sick roughly 3 times a year from just being forced to spend time in that hazardous office. And I then I sealed it by telling them that they will get 2 extra hours of work out of me each day plus all the CO2 I wouldnt be pumping into the atmosphere each day when I drive there on the perilous freeways with all the other pissed off people on the road. And they bought it. This was 2012. Ffw to 2019, I still work at home for the same company. I never get sick, I dont have to deal with any of the toxic culture stuff at work, and I buy and consume my own snacks, the ones I want to eat. In ops, we often have other internal groups that we either work with or support. It's often useful to view these groups as a customer, then you use the same policies, perhaps with a few exceptions in some cases, to manage the relationship. I can only speak for my own experience, but operations groups I've been part of that don't have this concept of the operating level agreement typically suffer various types of damage to reputation. This is because there are no rules around how internal groups assess accountability, and therefore by having the terms of the OLA, you have the ability to defend your position as long as you stayed within the terms of the OLA. For example when we started building VAData data centers all over the world for Amazon, by having an OLA, we were able to push back on groups that claimed we were not holding up our end of the agreement.
