Every economy has a plateau then a fall, then a pull back up again. I think the aggressive trade stance and hard line politics by China might have played a major role. As it’s frightened both the local businesses and foreign businesses and lead to all global powers starting to put tariffs and trade barriers up, all due to China wanting to get away with pretty blatant violations of fair trade, huge import taxes on foreign goods, great firewall blocking any foreign purchase easily, hugely subsidised mail, forced ownership sharing, lowered safety regulations, lack of pollutant regulation etc. chuck in a house market with terrible quality at a high price and you’ve got a balloon waiting to pop. I don’t blame the Chinese for wanting to buy any house outside of China. But they’ve taken their “build junk make bank” mentality to the world and it can’t last much longer.

Chinese is a great language until you realise without someone constantly telling you what each character is. You’re never going to understand. The tones and characters need to go the way of the dodo before I take more interest.

Wikipedia is a static delivery website. Of course it’s easy if all you’re delivering is static content. Try that with an ecommerce site where dynamic information is sent from sometimes multiple sources. It’s better to load it once and have a reactive site call just the necessary apis after. Calling everything over and over again in eCommerce is a pain for users. Unless you can afford a database and servers to be distributed globally to counter the added latency of downloading everything again and again. PWA is the next step for that. But, yeah, ok, for Wikipedia you can be static as you want.

They’re Australian but have offices in other countries. I believe they would move for the right reasons. This seems like a pretty big reason, considering they’re targeted at enterprise. But move where? UK will have this next, America does this without any laws at much greater effect and scale.

If this was to happen to me. I would buy stock in long term, low yield investments. Very long term investments with small payments. Similar to a superannuation program or large industry fund. I would take small amount and take a break, somewhere I always wanted. Take the whole family. Replace both cars (if they were needed) to extend their warranties for 7+ years. Place some money aside for college fees for the children (if that’s your things). Keep $100,000 as a “sickness” backup for insurance or even Cancer or some similar expensive cost (if it does cost a lot where you live).

At the end you’ll end up getting back your $8,000,000 but you’ll be getting it 10-20 years when you want to retire and do sweet nothing. Right now your brain still wants to produce and provide. So I doubt you will want to quit working. Maybe you can take a pay cut and do a job you always wanted?

Stand up scooters feel so unstable. Why not just add a seat and allow a seated scooter that’s foldable. The problem with last mile transport is that the laws in many countries need electric bikes to have peddles and peddle assistance. Just let people have a certain power and max speed and they will drop the car and replace it with a powered scooter. Aka, China.

Two easy ways to encourage foreign talent. Put huge investments into English training within the country. Or as they could. Put huge investments into a far simpler language such as Esperanto to create an easier to learn (world) language. Secondly, drop the firewall so that foreign talent and local talent don’t feel so divided.

Apples total lack of PWA support is a real pain. Making a mobile app is 10x the investment of a PWA and most ‘apps’ would be better off as a website. This issue is annoying me more and more lately as Apple simply wants to hold back so many things. All so they can take 30%.

Without devices to compliment its services. Why would someone use Apple Music over Spotify on android? Or appleflix over disneyflix or Netflix. Services are growing because of an established user base. Take away the hardware and they need to compete with many other companies. It’s a mistake I feel.

It was kind of inspiring to see Steve talk about the power PC CPU’s in a technical way. He would say “these things scream” and would compare constantly. He would talk about students and creatives. Professionals and home users in detail. Watching him bring down the prices was cool to see. The event in NY was a slap in the face. The new air might be great. But they increased the price by $100 without making it anything innovative.

Been on an Apple binge recently. The prices are out of reach. I’ve watched Steve on stage reducing prices! Whilst increasing speed. Steve talked about speed, ram, students constantly.

The examples the author uses and states that they are “almost real” are in no way almost real. To compare his short film to Disney price and art is a joke. They’re nothing a like. One of Disney’s Moana stills was something like 15GB+. Try do that in real time.

We can all thank googles incredibly lack of privacy for Apple iOS success. I’m sure most people use an iPhone because it’s simple and because the value on privacy is greater.

Other Android vendors should sue google for ruining any chances of actual competition.

Need a global minimum for all industries indexed similar to Amazon marketplace. Tech 30%. Farming 10-15%. Public service 10%. Etc. Something that can’t be dodged. Even a revenue tax, however that could work. The biggest companies have to much of an advantage. They pay no tax, follow no regulations apart from paying fines. Simply cannot continue.
