nice. this, unfortunately, is the future.

1) protecting in any way against meta doing an appl and bundling this feature on WhatsApp?

2) which api are you using? paying by message? paying meta compute? or hacking with a business account?

every ad network does this. right before the pandemic the new feature released on all big five was digital-out-of-home, which is the literal plot of dystopian movies... outdoors targeted to people passing by.

after that they all added targeting by weather (latest fine grained targeting under gdpr) and BT beacon tracking.

fun fact, google uses BT on your phone to mark of you entered a store after seeing an ad for it to get paid for the "conversion".

you were also a privilege person in the West and oblivious to poorer people outside of larger cities as the people you saw in China being oblivious to poorer people living outside of larger cities. foreigners, no matter how privileged, hardly can live inside the safety bubbles you yourself lived in the west.

all those things are useless.

if you have contact out of the country you're already part of a very small elite. if not, you cannot use this. they are so oblivious to the demography they claim to help that the site requires js, a big no if you want to be seen by really f** people having to use tor browser.

all this does is placate some small elite. it helps china/Russia more than anything else.

With a s* for brains search.

It fails to search anything, even it's own folders! or parts of the url. or the tags that gets added and removed from the UI every now and then and are ignored in search.

heck there's a 18yr old bug about performance being so bad in this search that if you have over 1k bookmarks it will just hang for several seconds.

edit: that said, i also use firefox bookmarks exclusively, but just for the (only one true in the entire industry) e2e server backups. Then i just manually export them and search outside of firefox, which sucks.

manipulating trust in elections is pretty much MetaBook's business model at this point.

Btw, how does Cicero react/uses to the most common Diplomacy game strategy: going out for a smoke and bribing someone to gang up on on another player? "hey Cicero, i have some GPUs to spare and was thinking..."

We were concerned about the phrasing of Article 45, that lays down a requirement for browsers to recognize any certificate ...

So same as today but with less steps?

Most govs are already in you browser/OS CA list. And every single government force you to download their own cert and add to your browser at some point. There's no way to add that cert and say "limit this to gov.in only"! after you added that cert it is game over.

e.g. https://pki.treas.gov/crl_certs.htm https://www.bit.admin.ch/bit/en/home/themes/swiss-government... plus all the gov CAs already in your browser (looking at firefox source they include, guangdong, taiwan, honkkong, netherlands and Greece. IOS 16 contains spain, belgium, something called "Government Root Certification Authority 00 B6 4B 88 07 E2 23 EE C8 5C 12 AD A6 0E 06 A1 F2" :shrug, greece, hk, Netherlands, Switzerland.
