Is it possible to play it on-line? I downloaded the sever and it works fine and I can telnet it locally but looks like I can't telnet to wolfmud.org (tried the default port).

Actually Google provides the top programming answers from SO, Quora etc places. DDG just uses this.
Well.. all of this reminds me temporary houses used by builders in Ukraine\Russia and other CIS countries (most probably other countries use this as well). For example, https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&sour... as you can see sometimes such "buildings" even have two or more floors. Not sure how they comfortable to live though.
You can check OpenStack project (http://www.openstack.org/) It is an open source cloud platform written mostly on Python.
