It has nothing to do with Intro/Extroversion. NFC may have some correlation to Intro/Extroversion, but one cannot draw that conclusion from the NFC study alone.

It's a security issue if the Indian government, or anyone else for that matter, found a way to create a backdoor into RIM's system without RIM's knowledge and consent.

As that isn't the case, then it's a privacy issue because the Indian government demanded RIM put in a backdoor for reasons or surveillance of its population.

Does this privacy issue potentially lead to a security issue? Yes, but not for RIM, but rather for it's users that depend on the privacy of RIM's service over which they may transmit sensitive information.

Before anyone says "about time", I'd just like to add: compare the WP7 initial release timeline to the Android initial release timeline. (Can't reasonably compare to iOS because WP7 and Android are multi-manufacturer and multi-carrier right out of the gate, whereas iOS is a closed system on limited carriers.)

Android v1.0 - 2008-10-21

Android v1.1 - 2009-02-09 (111 days)

Android v1.5 - 2009-04-30 (191 days)

WP7 v1.0 - 2010-10-21 in EU region (earliest date)

MS launched a brand new platform with 10 different devices on 60 carriers in 30 countries. Google launched a brand new platform on 3 HTC phones (Dream, T-Mobile G1, and Era G1), and if you look at the manufacturer release history, things didn't start to take off until v1.5.

Haters gonna hate, I suppose.

Comparing WP7 to iOS doesn't really make sense in this case. WP7 is, like Android, an OS used by several manufacturers and delivered on several networks. Each manufacturer and carrier has their own acceptance testing scheme. Failure at any step means tweaking and retesting.

It took Android from 2008-09-23 to 2009-04-30 to get to it's first MAJOR update (cupcake, v1.5). MS is pretty much on the same pace. (Note: Android 1.1 was exclusively for the T-Mobile G-1; I don't consider that comparable to the WP7 Nodo update.)

iOS runs on iPhone and iPad, and on a comparably limited number of networks. Yet it took from 2007-06-29 until 2009-06-17 (days shy of 2 years) just to get copy and paste functionality.

The market leader only looks more agile today, after they worked out a ton of bugs. Considering just how well WP7 worked from day one, I think it actually has a very bright future.

As commercially available products, they're definitely not dead. Studios keep churning out point-and-click adventure games, just check out www.jayisgames.com, the Nintendo DS, and the smart phone app stores.

However, innovation within the genre is on life support and in critical condition, but it has been like that since long before that article was published.

They still largely depend on puzzles with only a single correct solution, even if you have items in plain view on the screen that in reality would solve the problem (this is the "dream logic" mentioned in the linked article). They also rely on pixel hunting. Nothing has really changed.
