For creators, the click bait titles are non negotiable to capture the masses. If you think you are not the masses and want fewer clickbait titles, use DeArrow to fix it with crowdsourced, non-clickbait titles.

We are heading to a similar state as internet advertisements - they became so obnoxious that the average person installed an adblocker if they cared. DeArrow is next

Fun story: I’ve had a speaker which would connect to a Bluetooth device as soon as it was turned on, and only enter pairing mode if a paired device wasn’t in range. I couldn’t figure out what device it was connecting to, so I put it in the microwave (while it was off!) briefly to trigger the pairing timeout.

Some of my passwords weren’t found on that tool but I was able to find them on but scatteredsecrets.com - I searched because I was getting 2fa emails from services with that password. Just keep in mind it isn’t a definitive list

There is - stremio + torrentio + real debrid is a ~5 minute setup, works on web and android tv, and was easy enough for my parents to setup all by themselves. Real debrid does cost $3 a month but the experience is so much better that it’s well worth it. The money you’re paying goes to a seed box type thing that caches torrents online and lets you stream them to avoid notices from your ISP.

I recently abandoned my jellyfin + radarr + sonarr setup because for the above. After Usenet subscriptions, electricity costs and storage costs, it was much cheaper. And I could watch content on demand rather than having to wait for the whole thing to download.

From https://gregbenzphotography.com/hdr/#tests:

“Note for Safari / iPhone users: The top image on this page (the building with the before/after slider) uses a workaround which shows an HDR video as if it were a photo. This will let you get a sense of the HDR benefit, but you will fail the tests below as Safari / WebKit (which means all iPhone/iPad browsers) only supports HDR video and not HDR photos at this time.” :-(

I’m surprised that the multimodal model is t significantly better than GPT4. I thought that all the Google photos training data would have given it an edge.

This is an ideal use case for something like TailScale! It’ll only redirect traffic that’s meant for your internal network, unless you set it as an exit node - then it asks as a regular VPN.

Your app does not need to get approved if you are the only one using it - in fact you don’t even need to have a developer account if you’re the only one using it and are ok resigning the app occasionally.

With regards to enshittification: all the examples listed were software companies or service companies. I don’t see any hardware companies on there, and I’d go so far as to say hardware companies that sell with high margins do not undergo enshittification. From the article: “… they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers …” Apple doesn’t have business customers. Their core business strategy is not to sell ads, or data, but rather hardware.
