Having 5+ companies each pouring billions into trying to make this technology a reality separately is ridiculous. All these companies should come together and work on a standardized single solution that can be shared between them. It will come much faster and be less expensive if they are pooling their resources.

AMP has totally ruined the internet for desktop users. ~90% of AMP sites don't even provide a link to the full desktop version of the page (unless you want to dig through the source code of the page, but even then it is hit and miss), and AMP sites are linked to more and more on social media sites like reddit.
I certainly hope not, the first "cat" I was shown had a human face.
447 comments here and not one questioning how this "mysteriously noisy galaxy" ended up being closer to us than Pluto.. (article says this galaxy is "3 billion miles away", Pluto is 4.67 billion miles from Earth).
Except that doesn't put a physical link in the document. Why should I have to dig into the source code of the page just to find the link to the normal page?
AMP is terrible and it is ruining the web for desktop users. I frequently get linked to AMP pages while on my desktop, and have never come across one that provides a link to the non-AMP version of the page and often the URL to the non-AMP version cannot be derived from the AMP URL.
What's wrong with using CSS media queries to have a responsive design? Or if you absolutely need a separate mobile site for some reason, at least give a link back to the full desktop version of the page..
I get that AMP is supposed to help optimize page loading for mobile devices, but for most sites I don't think it is necessary to go to the extremes of AMP in 2018. Most places in the world have decent enough internet speeds and mobile data allowances that pages do not need to be super tiny all the time.
By the time Bezos gets a rocket to the moon, Musk will already have a settlement on Mars.
This is a really stupid move. There are plenty of instances where websites do not need to use HTTPS, like simple static websites for small businesses that do not collect personal user information. This is going to cause a lot of confusion and outrage when it is implemented.
Alternative headline: "rich guy builds a house for his hipster hobby"
Japan, China, and Korea are all heavily investing in Vietnam as well. In HCMC, Japan is building the first of nine rapid transit metro lines in the city, and in Hanoi China is doing the same.
This is BS. I lived in Vietnam for years, there are plenty of language schools where foreigners can go to learn Vietnamese. I've never heard of anyone needing a license to teach Vietnamese. There are even volunteer groups in HCMC for teaching foreigners Vietnamese, all done in the open with no teaching certifications.
...These are all shitty ideas.
up to 12% of internet users still use IE11, and even more if you count lower versions. It will take them about a decade to upgrade to a "modern browser". There are still large companies who want browser compatibility down to IE 8.
cool, can't wait to use these in 10 years when browser compatabilty catches up.
If it were the same quality as my laptop battery, you would have to keep it plugged in while driving after 1 year.
Exactly where I stopped too.
Well, I'm just $1B away from being a billionaire.
Bought them from India, like every other company.
Chinese tour groups are notorious for disrespecting and/or destroying everything they come in contact with. I've had to personally deal with them in several countries and it is never a pleasant experience.
In my experience in searching for a job, companies invite for 3 interviews and a coding test, then decide the position isn't clearly defined, so they restart the entire process and ask you to re-apply. Then you go through 3 more interviews and another coding test, and then one more interview, then you never hear from the company again. Since the whole process took 4-months, you are now broke and homeless.
Everyone is up in arms about female discrimination, when really it is the lower-class men who are discriminated against the most.
Then you are just enabling that process to continue. You are subsidizing their wages and making it seem ok for their employer to pay them peanuts.
I don't tip anyone and tipping is not a common practice where I live. In fact, most people would feel insulted if you gave them a tip here.
React is such BS. Its sole purpose for existing is to make simple tasks unnecessarily complicated.
Thank you for your honest replay. Those prices are just for short stays of 2 days to 1 week
I realize that. The examples of better places I found were for daily rentals, the most expensive option. I bet if I were to look at similar places for longer periods of time I could easily find for an even lower price than what you are offering.
I don't have a problem with what you are trying to do, my issue is that you are advertising this pretending like you are a non-profit and just trying to break even, when that obviously cannot be the case when you are charging at least twice as much as better housing options.
Just look on the local craigslist, expat facebook groups, or other expat forums for the area you are looking to stay. There are usually plenty of expats looking to fill a room in their share-houses.
If you are looking to live with "like-minded" people, it does not take much effort to organize a shared-house rental. I've been living around Asia for the past few years, and have lived in mansions with up to 5 other expats (each with our own huge private room and bathroom) for no more than $300USD/month + ~$50/month for all other bills including high speed internet. Malta is more expensive than most of Asia, but what these guys are charging is ridiculous and by no means are they "just trying to break even".
lol, what a ripoff. They claim they are "just covering costs" and the fee is more like a donation.. I just did 5 minutes of research and you can rent a nice 45 sq. m. 1-bedroom apartment on a daily basis, in a more central location of Malta, for 1/2 the price they are charging for a "single private bedroom". What a joke. Should call it what it is, a "hipster trust-fund kid house".
..Who is secretly owned by Apple.
I wonder what this will do for my 20DBi external wifi adapter.. I can already connect to networks over 600 meters away from my 13th floor apartment..
No company is going to pay someone for an interview project assignment when they know they could easily make candidates jump through hoops for free.
