I worked at a car marketplace company. The number of time people told us back in 2014-2016 that Americans would no longer own cars in “2-3 years” and that consequently our market would vanish over night ... btw this group of people included very respectable folks, many of whom have a lot of fans here on HN :)
I’m with you. I don’t buy the lack of UK license argument. Surely they can apply for one and get it approved in time—just like other banks will have to. But it might have not been worth the time given the small user base and limited differentiation factors.

Window screens: malaria prevention.
Indoor plumbing: make sanitation so convenient that you don’t have any reasons not to use it (vs throwing the old night bucket outta the window). Obviously city scale sanitation == no dysentery, cholera...etc.
Yeah but at Seattle is building housing. Unlike SF and most of the Bay Area...
