I just remembered that I met one of my best friends to this day through Last.fm. It was 2009 or so, and you could leave messages on concert pages.

I posted asking if anyone wanted to go with me since I didn't want to go alone, and she sent me a message.

Good times.

I just think it's beautiful that I can see all the music I've listened to since 2005 (back when it was still called Audioscrobbler, before the Last.fm rename). And I never stopped scrobbling in all that time!

I love these kinds of stats and being able to see how my taste has changed across more than 20 years, since I was a teenager.

I do miss the old community forums they had integrated back in the day, though.

Termux has saved me countless times over the years.. One of the most powerful apps on my phone, that's come through whether I needed a quick SSH session to put out a fire or to get some real work done on the go.

I use easy-move-resize [1] to resize windows from anywhere inside the area of the window, using a modifier key. In my case I like using cmd + middle mouse button + drag.

This is standard in Gnome and a must for me back when I switch to MacOS for work.

Hey, just so you know, newer lockfiles are meant to fully replace old ones, you shouldn't bother with solving merge conflicts on these files, just accept all the new changes always.

What you SHOULD solve are conflicts in the packages/project file. Once solved, just create a new lockfile and replace the old one.

This applies to lockfiles on any project python or non-python.

Doesn't work for me on MacOS:

I get "mapfile: command not found"

It completely banalizes the risks people like Machado face just for opposing authoritarian power.

Pretending there's any equivalence between the two situations says a lot about your worldview, or lack thereof.

Opposing a dictatorship at great personal risk, being exiled, banned from elections, and still leading a democratic movement isn't "nothing".

I think this prize recognizes her courage and fight for human rights.

Dismissing that as "just being in the opposition" ignores the reality of what it takes to stand up to Maduro's dictatorship.

I think you are mixing two separate things: rule of law vs privacy.

Sure, we didn’t have encrypted communication a couple decades ago, but we did have an expectation of privacy: letters, phone calls, even in-person conversations.

Encryption is just the modern way of preserving that same right in a digital context.

And Europeans are either too passive, too ignorant or too focused on the wrong issues.
