I think it has to do with the RSS standard. As a podcaster ("Eyes of Reason") I like Spotify because I can see things like the age, gender and location of where my listeners are coming from as well as see things like how long they listened. If we can update the RSS Protocol to have these features then it would prevent this sort of Payola and agglomeration from happening.

Yeah it would be interesting to hear of the feature that Edge could not support.

You're correct! I've never thought about that before but when they killed the RSS reader it really left a bad taste in my mouth. Now that I _do_ have the ability to make decisions at the company now, the bad taste did transfer over.

I'm against people living off of food stamps also, and if there is a subsidy out there for the taking, then i'm going to take it. I agree that government should not be involved in either of those things, but promoting certain kinds of businesses might be worth the subsidy for some people.

You hit the nail on the head there. Many people don't care about ethical situations like this as long as they are getting paid. Its not that its wrong, its just that it may not be ideal if we want a society that works for all people. But to be fair, Wisconsin and Silicon Valley have different value systems.

Exactly. I would assume that the higher the population, the more buildings present. Just because you have a lot of land doesn't mean you have a lot of buildings.

Software isn't a brick though, it is changing and updating and is a brick that has to be maintained. When you put software bricks together you get a construction that is more powerful than the sum of its parts. It is something inherently valuable in and of itself.

I agree, this isn't capitalism but more like crony capitalism or better yet -- corporatism. Government should not pick winners or losers, much less requiring them.

I could not agree more. This is advancing the idea that on the whole, men and women are different and thus "gender-neutral" language is just a different way of exposing the same fundamental truth. Much less divisive but the same underlying point.

Google and Apple and other map providers scrub some of their data by request of the government. Will the government do something similar here? Kudos to whomever found out that they could identify military stuff through this.

I take it that "discovery" is the process of communicating with the people who are suing providing the raw data and facts as to their basis for suing. This could be a giant spreadsheet of the songs that were sold and what was paid on it.

It would seem to me that the Federal Government is in charge of the border, and that until you are actually in the United States, you have no reasonable expectation of the Bill of Rights. There are many things that need to get checked at the border. Maybe they could just have a judge there to stamp each request as it goes through.
