Add a reasonable fee in ToS. Something like $100 per article, and $5 per article per year for continued use in a model.
It may discourage some companies from scrapping your content.
And if they ignore the license, you may have grounds to collect the fee if it becomes obvious that they are using your content in the AI models. (Unlikely to collect though)
Masters of Doom: How Two Guys Created an Empire and Transformed Pop Culture by David Kushner
It was also amazing read and it just made me fall in love with programming all over again. And thanks for mentioning Doom Guy, just ordered it.
I think the difference is their target market. Credit card companies usually target people who they think can make payments without too much stress.
BNPL companies target people who are unlikely to afford the purchase and they will be in far worse position afterwards. Since these are high risk loans, so they come with even higher interest rates and fees too.
Coming from other side of border but with similar culture and attitudes, corruption is so common in that part of the world that most of the people don’t even see it.
They would consider it smart to game the system.
Only way I can explain this attitude is to compare it tax loopholes in the west. It is very hard for many Americans to see loopholes in tax codes as unethical. Like using mega-backdoor-ira loophole to bypass income limits for contributing to IRA. (Personally, I am not saying that tax loopholes are ethical or unethical, just something that can be seen both ways.)
