All IoT devices on my network go into a VLAN that blocks internet access. Using Unifi, I think it's just a checkbox to turn internet access on/off. I use a virtual nic on my Home Assistant VM that recognizes that vlan and can communicate with all those devices, as well as a separate nic which is hooked up to the main vlan.

I've been experimenting with some home automation using Home Assistant recently. Its scope is absolutely incredible. Some open source friendly brands are Sonoff, Shelly, and Athom. Would be really sweet if there was an Awesome Open Source Home Assistant git some day. =)

I've been using Arc and I've become a fan of folders + vertical tabs also. But I also want bookmarks with tags. I don't want to keep 'pinouts for xyz motherboard' open somewhere all the time. I want to tag it with 'dell', 'motherboard', and 'pinout' and then search when I need it instead of having to remember what 'Space' I put it in. I prefer bookmarks to web search when possible because often enough I spend stupid amounts of time searching for a little tidbit and may want to come back to it later.

Rather than cleaning out bookmarks, I would keep a few main bookmarks and folders on the toolbar, and file away everything else under one few big folders with tags.

I use Firefox for tagging and it seems to be a fantastic way to keep track of thousands of sites with small cognitive load. Am I missing some workflow that's 'better'?

Our domain checks out because we use O365. However, we have an old Exchange server sending out via SMTP. We're not sure what the best path forward is for us. Do we change our apps to route through O365? Will probably take days for that. We have in house custom apps that use it heavily. Anyone have good resources on what we should do?

Currently (2023), homeschoolers make up less than 7% of the population. That is likely an all time high. So what you're telling me is that government schools are catastrophically bad at enabling American students to distinguish fact from opinion?

Also, homeschoolers do better on standardized tests than their government schooled counterparts. So it seems like we should be advocating for and advancing homeschool interests if we actually care about education, since it is the homeschoolers who are 'doing it right', according to outcomes.

The blatant egotism/authoritarianism in this thread of believing that the government somehow has a right or duty to raise one's children is stunning.

I have a relative (11 yo) is was an absolute gem of a human. I had noticed over the last 4-5 years she was becoming more reclusive, quiet, and sad in demeanor. She left public school and began homeschooling last year, and it has absolutely turned her life completely around. She is once again becoming more vibrant, enthused for life, and is thriving with new friends from her various weekly activities. I asked her if she liked her new coop school she attends (once per week) and of it she says 'there is way less drama'.

Why does anyone think the potential for abuse by the education system itself and peers therein is less likely than abuse by the family? In fact, my children are now legally allowed to become sterilized in the state of California during school time and that's allowed to be kept secret for me. That is legalized abuse.

For all the problems homeschooling might have, I believe the risks of 'unchecked child welfare' via family/community education FAR outweight the risks of the government run daycare centers on any day. Look at the outcomes: homeschoolers consistently score higher on standardized tests.

Of the three, I would exclusively only classify what people put their attention on as excrement, not childish nor stupid. Childish implies only children do it. Children are, in fact, more capable of comfortably settling into their own being up until around 3 yo.
