An SMTP relay could make a copy of your emails before they even reach your inbox. Lack of TLS support on the sender side and the context goes clear text through relays. Encryption remains the best way to guarantee against eavesdropping.

At some point when the number of boxes and number of cronjobs become too high, I suggest looking at Rundeck as a central scheduler (not affiliated with PagerDuty, I actually work for a competiting company) or something similar.

Also, you want to make sure your job has been running. I've used a selfhosted instance of healthchecks.io in order to warn me if something has not run.

I live in the French speaking part of Belgium and have configured all my devices in English for the past 15+ years.

Apparently Google consider that if you are geo IP located in Belgium with your devices in English, you _have to be_ a Dutch speaker. While I would agree that French speaking Belgians are in majority using French UIs, there are exceptions. Please respect my browser settings!

The solution? I have to put French in my browser accepted languages (not necessarily first) and then Google understand I'm not a Dutch speaker and will stick to English.

I think it's resolved as I don't have any issue with storing excerpts of scripts and code.

I've used it for a couple of years with no noticeable impact on battery life. (Motorola phones).

To me Chromium is not "ungoogled" as long as google engineers have such a powerful influence over it.

Firefox has been using Google's safe search since version 6. So unless you disable or block it, Google knows about your whereabouts, even if you used Bing.

I've used vaultwarden (formerly bitwarden_rs) for probably 2 years now. The author keeps up with the upstream quite well. It's written in rust and uses SQLite, which makes it lightweight and appropriate for a single user setup. It's so good it even passed the WAF test.

The author of firefly claims to do double entry but it's just not true. I quickly gave up when I realized that I could not input a refund on my credit card account. It doesn't allow positive transactions. The only suggested workaround by the author himself was to edit the original transaction. Firefly is probably useful for many people but to me it was too opinionated and not natural to use. I moved to Gnucash.

Great Linux support on the laptops thanks to Red Hat collaboration? I work for Red Hat and the t490s and t14s have had their fair share of compatibility issues. When released the t14s was freezing daily for many colleagues. The thunderbolt dock support is abysmal, our IT support is overwhelmed with request and random issues. My docking (hosting HDMI, one usb switch with mouse, keyboard, webcam and headset) has always worked perfectly on my t480s but acts up on the t14s up to the point IT told me they ran out of idea and just suggest an exchange.

I agree when the laptop gets to the second hand market, rough edges have been smoothened and Linux support is above competition. On release day? It's not perfect.

I deleted my Authy account after the acquisition. The deletion process was a bit of a struggle for reasons I don't recall clearly.

I now use Aegis on phone and the otp plugin of pass on my Linux desktops (+ a ulauncher plugin).

My company provides either MacBook or Lenovo (I have a t480s and just received a t14s). I have yet to hear someone having an issue with their Lenovo (most run Fedora). Not sure about MacBooks reliability. The weak point of Lenovo seem to be the thunderbolt docking stations. Mine worked perfectly on the t480s but is unreliable with the t14s and IT support told me they are overwhelmed with docking station issues.

For those not into hacking I use a Shelly 1 to control the garage door and aqara ZigBee contact sensor, controlled by home assistant.

I also use fastmail and I copied your config, with the only difference I'm saving in a local folder.

I use a self hosted kanboard instance for my tasks or todos. I use zim as knowledge base and journal. I bookmark stuff in a self hosted shaarli instance, and tag things I need to read later with the #read tag. In Firefox a bookmark link takes me immediately to my reading list.

In Fastmail, I make extensives use of labels to be as close as possible to inbox zero. Every email gets a label and gets sorted asap.

This is the results of years of experimentations but this is the longest I've been sticking to a workflow/tools.

Same deployment scenario here (home assistant on libvirt, usb pass through) and my Conbee 2 has been rock solid, with xiaomi buttons, temp probes and door sensors.

I've used mmex for years and it's been not so stable recently so I gave firefly a try.

There were too many simple use cases that could not be done simply, compared to mmex.

One example is credit card partial chargeback/refunds. The dev suggested to edit the initial charge and substract the refunded amount. I dont want to do that. I like to keep a 1:1 mapping of transactions.

Also income vs expense accounts, instead of payees. If Amazon refunds me partially (let's say $10 from a $100 purchase) it now creates an Amazon income account with $10. I had an Amazon expense account of $100. Both accounts are not linked in any way and it's impossible to know your Amazon balance ($90).

I buy a lot of stuff for my girlfriend and she pays me back around the end of the month. Keeping track of her balance is not possible with Firefly.

A few other things were not working properly or at all.

Dev is very nice and active but I doubt he has any accounting background. Firefly turned out to me as a prettified excel sheet, not a double entry book keeping.

Since you're looking for free or low cost, how about self hosting?

Gotify allows push notifications to Android.

NodeRED can expose an API and trigger actions such as SMS through plugins.

On my mobile/brave browser, it was even less than that. Opened on issue on his Github :-)

Another vote for self-hosted Shaarli.

I currently have 4319 links, collected over 13 years and 8 days (started with Delicious, then Pinboard).

Link rot and relevance is an issue, and I rarely go back to links that are more than a year old.

I don't delete broken links though, I like to think my Shaarli is a fair representation of my interests over the years.
