The problem with having to "lawyer up" is someone is trying to ruin him over something that isn't real. If he really is innocent, the most likely explanation is that this woman's life has not gone well, and now she is hoping to take revenge on someone who really has only helped her in the past, and in doing so hopefully avoid whatever pain it is the future she's running from; either that or she's just a psychopath.

then how do you apply that law to everyone? only white people can ride dirt bikes? only people not in gangs can? the arrest should be for riding dirt bikes in a gang then, because part of the burden of the law is making it clear what it stands for

Actually to be quite contrary, and just to hear people's ideas, how can anyone judge whether death is right or wrong? Or in a different light, how do you say that the promotion of human beings is a good thing? I'm a human being, and all of us talking are, so perhaps we're inclined in that sense to believe that human life is precious. But can one prove what death is? Is it always better for someone to live, is it always better for someone to die? Death in my poorly conceived view is just a moment in which we choose to no longer accept this world, but I don't believe that I'll cease to exist. In fact no matter how large or how terrifying the experience may be, it will still pass. Yes, in a sense I'm making a relativistic argument, but it's interesting to me to hear people's views on death.

Perhaps you mean it in a different sense, but it's not possible to not have the option for life, you can choose not to experience life, you can say the reasons against it are too much for you, but there's never a time when life is no longer an option.

I don't agree with the fact that they were rude, which is what is it to not respond in these cases, but they didn't do anything particularly offensive except for leaving him in the dark. All he needed to do was take a job offer, if Google really wanted him, they could fix their mistake(s) of waiting so long. The comments though for this article are pretty egregious, it's too bad interviewers are that awful.

I meant it as anyone who has been playing them for years has been there and done that, the thrill of them is in big part due to their novelty, there's a lot to explore if you've never played any mmo before, there's a lot less when you start to realize there all just reskinned versions of the same idea. MMOs are some of the more basic games in existence, the need to advance, that's my point.

Honestly dude, except for young children, mmos have passed their prime, anyone whos been playing mmos for 15+ years has been there and done that, I don't mean that in an elitist sense, I mean that except for skin/model changes, mmos are really very cookie-cutter, it was really exciting to see it for the first couple of times, just as doom, half-life, and any other shooters were, but it is a real weakness when you're playing the same mechanics for years. Yes, I can use my imagination, but I am aware of the limits of technology and I'd like to do more than play the same time sinks over and over.

Another thing after reading these comments, so many people practically worship waiters? Honestly, what? They're servants, they bring you food, they clean up messes, they're there to fix things when they go wrong, not spend their every moment trying to decide whether to shine your shoe or flip you off; It's like they're celebrities or athletes or something from the way some people talk about how they need tips or they'll start doing this or that thing to make your stay unpleasant. They have a job, if they don't do it well, they should lose it, they have a fixed income, if you don't want to pay it, you should know ahead of time what it's going to be and be able to decide whether to eat there or not, not judging after the meal.

I really like this article, he raises points I hadn't thought about. As someone who is American and works in a restaurant, I still think it's a terrible system. Waiters do not do more or better work than the rest of the staff, they are just like everyone else and the fact that they get paid double or triple their coworkers is insane. It's certainly not about their attitude, because people who get paid $8/hr behave just as well (or often do because it's their job and they don't want to lose it), and waiters are just as often rude and inattentive. It mystifies me really that restaurants in 2013 havn't been relegated to the same model every other business follows, just tell me the price and be done with it; tipping is a terrible system.

Is it really so horrendous to consider that there are only so many people in the world? I've yet to see a place on earth where the majority of the people don't work for there living, so the probably of doing something that requires less effort than everyone else and having a better lively hood than them seems well unlikely. I mean houses just do not build themselves...the real path to success is finding a way to live the life you desire. I mean if you like sitting in fine restaurants ordering people around, then probably you should find a way to own your own restaurant, etc. Just my 2cents but all these schemes are just that schemes!

I'm not really trying to be snide, but it really is an issue that's been sort of hanging around since the before I was born (1980s), who's going to control the internet and how, and whoever does is probably going to have a lot of power

I think the simple answer a lot of these comments are pointing to is: civilization, wealth, progress, whatever you want to call it, but more and more people are aware of how nice life can be and also see that it doesn't really appear without hard work, course this is merely a hypothesis, but I think it's a pretty common sentiment in the first world that hard work creates an easier life.

I'm sorry, but everyone can have an opinion about art, that's what makes it so easy to value it at so high a price, and in my opinion I'd probably never pay even a thousand dollars for one of those paintings. Now that's me, somebody may like them more, but I still just from a scroll through them have trouble understanding what the commotion is all about, except perhaps that he's so young.

What I find intriguing is that creativity really develops from giving it time to develop. i.e. If I just tackle a problem as I know how to from my own point of view, I'm probably going to do it as straight forwardly as possible, anything that has a definite solution I'll answer first and I'll do that ad nauseum (perhaps w/ research inbetween, but we're not talking creative research, just more fact checking) until the problem is finished. On the other hand, if you are willing to you can probably sit, think the problem over, and let a solution develop. You might have to forget preconceived ideas that you had, perhaps think in a new way, but it's possible. Either way you'll probably get to a solution, but my real point is, creativity is as much a matter of willingness as anything else, I mean you just can't turn off your thoughts, you can really only direct them. ...I'll admit I havn't read the article, but I'm always curious about these discussions of creativity, why is it an isssue? How do you know someone isn't being creative? Because they don't take your approach? How do you teach someone to be creative, show them how you would do it? I think the only common denominator for creativity, is how much effort you're willing to give it.

As an anecdote, I havn't even read the article, but I live in orleans parish in New Orleans, LA. I have a choice of two high-speed internet providers, Cox cable and AT&T, I have AT&T, and recently I was told I needed to switch to AT&T U-verse, which sounded great, I mean upgrades are good right? Months later I come to find out that my internet and phone which are now bundled together no longer work periodically, and during stormy times they practically never work: Long story short, my house is a) too far from the nearest point of service for anything faster than a 1.5Mbps connection, b) it's not real U-verse service c) I can't even keep the bundled phone and internet, though thankfully they did reduce our bill somewhat. The real kicker is though that for 6years there has been a lawsuit against Orleans parish because our former mayor was an executive of cox cable and made it ILLEGAL, yes illegal, for fiber optics to be installed in Orleans parish. It's ridiculous we're not talking high explosive weaponry, slaves, or other contraband; but I could just move out of my parish where the law isn't quite so foolish.

There's also a much more serious point at stake here which is that should we be thrown in jail for making sarcastic/bitter/meaningless comments? It seems obvious (unless someone is withholding other facts) that this child had no intention of committing a crime, but because he was frustrated/angry and didn't express himself well (as an adult would, which is something we don't expect children to do, because that's what being young is about, learning!) we want to lock him up for 8 years? Does anyone really think that's a good idea? and more importantly by ignoring what really happened you're ignoring the fact that actions like that have now come under scrutiny by the general public/government, and to such a degree that by merely jesting we face jail time? That's insane, I would believe that maybe an investigation by the police, maybe a day in jail...

that would still be a third dimension since you're just choosing to avoid something entirely within our realm, ever advancing technology is still not advanced compared to forever... or something like that =)

Are you trying to say you get a lot of attention and don't like it/can't handle it and thus you think being subordinate (low power poses0 is the answer to not being able to cope with things? Come on your argument is that if you fail at something you get burned? There's nothing truer to to life except that we're going to be uncomfortable in it for a long time, but it's easy to ignore if you choose. I understand not wanting to draw attention to yourself, that's a personal thing and a choice only you can really make, but saying "it hurts, I don't want to fly any higher" is never going to change reality, and I think it's sad that someone is posting about life is "forcing" them to do something they don't seem to want.
