I also bit the bullet and did a bazzite install and am blown away how seamless it has been for what I need. All the games I like run on Steam. Even Diablo 4 runs through the Blizzard launcher which does take some work to get installed, but nothing you can't find in a youtube video.

No issues using the system as my daily driver for personal things. I have dual monitors, one oriented vertically and one 144hz. All works great! I'd recommend it to anyone

I don't think you realize how easy it is to steal these cars. Look up a few videos. You rip off the plastic on the steering column, pry out the ignition cylinder and then use the A end of a usb cable to turn the exposed nub to start the car. Under 30 seconds. While there are other issues going on, this is gross negligence on Kia/Hyundai to not use an immobilizer.

Intel arc a750 are under $300 and are decent cards for 1080 and do well in 1440. Dx9 support has greatly increased since release.

Going up a little in price, amds 6650 amd 6750 are 3-400.

6800xt are under $600.

As a counter point, I paid about $1600 in 2019 in northern NJ to have my circuit breaker panel replaced and my service upgraded from 100 to 200.

I’m currently enrolled and will say the networking is the best part. I’ve found a group of about 50 people in a private slack scattered all over the world. We all bounce things off each other.

not sure if they have any courses specific to munitions, but RIT is one of the few schools that has a dedicated Packaging Science degree. My nephew started this year. He was turned onto it during a campus tour. He, and the rest of us, had never heard of such a degree before. I think a lot of other schools would have a class or two in an ME program.

I'm in the Cybersecurity, Information Security Track. My undergrad was Business Administration. It's been a struggle trying to learn things as I go but so far no issues. I personally feel the MS in CS would be more valuable, but I never thought I would have been accepted into the program. I was accepted into the first semester of the MS in Cyber MS. If I had known that I would be successful, I would have applied to the CS degree years ago.

They also started an online MS in Cybersecurity in 2019. Three different tracks. The policy track only needs 1 CS'ish class. The Information Security track students would probably be better off just going for the MS in CS instead. A lot of students start in the Information Security track but switch over to Policy once they take the intro to info security class. All the classes in the Info Sec track are the same as the CS degree except they cost more. The energy/power track students don't seem to really exist. I'm done with 7/10 classes.

If you're really going to do it, look into Georgia Tech's online MS in CS. The program is 100% online and is under $10k for all classes.

Try doing a screenshare in Slack. You can't, you have to connect a voicecall before you can share your screen.

Now do it in Teams. You can share your screen without completing a voicecall.

I agree that it's going to get worse. There is a mass exodus out of NYC. I live in northern NJ and lots of my town commutes to NYC. Anecdotally, most of the people I know who worked in NYC are not going back anytime soon. There are bidding wars for smallish houses where a 350k house gets 20 bids and goes for 10% over asking price. People are trying to get out of the city by stay close to at least see how things shake out. One neighbor is talking of moving to a low cost state in the middle of the country as their NYC office is not reopening, but they are all working remotely. Salary arbitrage.

I’m in Georgia Techs online MS in cybersecurity program and have argued these points a few times. Most of the cybersecurity classes are just CS classes. I think it was just a money grab to repackage their existing CS degree into a more marketable package.

I’ve argued that we should have some type of network and OS hardening classes. There is a required network security And secure computer communication class but they are much more about programming vs implementation. The counter arguments I get are that what I’m suggesting is more aligned with a vendor cert. But a lot of cyber security is doing the hardening of os and proper user access.

A lot of the cyber students end up switching to the policy track instead of the information security track. They are admitting students with almost no prior CS experience. They get away with only having to take an intro to cyber security CS class. Their remaining classes are all management classes marginally related to security.

I’m going to use this article to backup my arguments that there is more to cybersecurity than programming.
